Mica informs Phin of the discovery. He then takes the time to search the cave for anything else of note, and more importantly, any hostiles that could exist in the cave. After he's satisfied all is safe, Mica communicates with Rak and Kilmus that he's found something valuable and will take however much time he needs to extract the gemstone and skull, using the pick he picked up near the entrance of the system.
Mica gets close to the gem and unfurls his arm. With surprising dexterity, it acts without any guidance on Mica's part, and it begins to delicately chip away at the skull and crystal.
While Mica stands there, he conjures a flame in his other hand, and will proceed to speak into the fire in his customary ritual, not caring if Phin hears him or not. Once again, in Infernal:
"It's getting worse," says Mica. The displeased Fiend forms at the fire, arms crossed. "Is that my problem?" "It will be. I'm losing the power to control it." "How does that concern me?" "I've only done what you've asked. I want to know when you will uphold the terms of our contract." The Fiend laughs. "You're not the one in power here, Mica. I choose what powers to give you. And besides, I haven't agreed to rid you of any curses that you have already." "Would you be willing to renegotiate?" To that, the Fiend lets a little surprise through. Mockingly, of course. "I would. Do you know what that entails?" "No." "I have enemies in this place, Mica. Fiends and Frostmaidens don't get along. Kill people for me, Mica. End the Frostmaiden's rule. I will provide you reciprocated power for the murders you commit." "What if I don't want to kill anyone?" "It's too late for that, Mica. You have another conscience growing inside you. It's killed before. Maybe you should listen to it instead of calling me. Then, I can consider." With that, the flame fades, leaving Mica more shaken than reassured.
Mica pockets the extracted strange skull before apprehensively looking over to Phineas, about to say something about taking it back to town to investigate what it was, before his right arm reaches forward and begins the attunement process. How bad can it be?
Mica pockets the skull and crystal, nodding towards Phineas. He doesn’t say a word about the crystal, but communicates to Phineas that the area had little else to interest them.
Unless Phineas stops Mica, he will walk back to the bucket contraption and head to the other side. Interestingly, he exudes an uncharacteristic air of confidence, as opposed to the more cowardly demeanour that fit the easily frightened Kenku.
Perhaps more strangely, when he reaches for the bucket system, he reaches with his right, malformed, non-dominant hand.
Kilmus would continue to hold his position on the other side of the chasm, glancing back only briefly when Mica and Phin come back across in the bucket contraption.
Oy there, Mica, how'd it go? What did ys see over there?"
Phineas suggests, "We should head back to town and get our gold." The halfling looks about as moves to leave the mine. "Or perhaps spend the night here and move on in the morning. It'll be cold out there."

Phineas nods, setting about finding a place in the mines where he feels they could be most safe. "I don't want any love-lorn giant-kin stumbling upon us again," he says. "Where we going next? Maybe we hunt that there moose that's been terrorizing folk."

"Sure, so long as it pays" Rak would reply before heading back up the tunnel. "You find us a good spot, I'll get the rats. A rat burger sounds pretty good about now." The gith says with a grin.
Not too shabby. This corner over here. A defensible part of the mine. A fire is made and your sleep is somewhat restful. When morning comes, it's another bone freezing day with the same sky. At least the aurora looks a bit more colorful.
Rising and stretching, Phineas for a moment recalls the comforts of the pubs and libraries in Waterdeep. Another life, now. He barely remembers that brash, young witty scholar, carousing the cobbled streets with the sons and daughters of socialites while ravenously devouring every new tome released. Ah, the brandaberry wine at Gournard's or the bellowing and blush-inducing ballads sung at The Fiery Flagon. Absent-mindedly, his hand drops into his pack, slowing tracing the edges of the book inside, thinking to himself. "Another time...another man."
Phineas sighs, looking about his new compadres and shaking his head slowly.
"We should be going then," he mutters to the rest, loathing the colloquial accent he's adopted and letting the brief memories of a life gone past fade away once again. Shoving a handful of dried bacon in his mouth, he adds, "The moose was seen near Lonelywood, no? I know a wee bit about those parts. I've been calling it home for awhile."

Rak would wake up and stretch. He would curse the cold under his breath as he packed up his belongings. "Yeah, Let's get paid for killing the kobolds before we head out to get paid for killing a moose" The gith would say as he shivers a bit in his frost covered armor.

As far as you can tell, you have cleared out the mine. You are free to chip out the skull and gem. Be careful.

Inside the skull is a large glowing purple crystal. Magic swirls inside it, it seems.
Do you wish to attune to it?
Phineas steps back as the bird finds the glowing crystal. "That ain't gonna explode is it?" he asks warily, keeping his distance.

Two things happen when you attune.
I will PM you with the results.

You have successfully cleared the mine! I leave it up to you all as to what you want to do next.
Kilmus would continue to hold his position on the other side of the chasm, glancing back only briefly when Mica and Phin come back across in the bucket contraption.

"What did ya find? Anything good" Rak asks when he sees the others start to make their way back across the gap.
