How do you roll ability scores dropping the lowest? I’m new to this DDB forum
if you are on a computer, there is a dice roller button that has an ability score tab, clicking on that tab then hitting the okay button will auto fill with the text with this: Ability scores: 17131412118
you can also just type it out: [*roll]4d6dl1[*/roll] just without the *
there is also a whole forum post HERE that explains how to roll dice and stuff.

Class: Barbarian
Background: Outlander
Backstory:
They took our forest. Our home. We knew it was happening, we could feel the energy closing in. The old warriors did what they could, but we stood no chance against them. The forests, once in balance, were then tipped into darkness for centuries.
At least that’s what the legends say, I have only known the dark forests of Borovia. I know nothing of living in peace with the surrounding wilderness. I only know the savagery that pervades these lands and I’ve had to become a savage myself to defend what is left of my tribe. I yearn to know the wilderness as it was when my ancestors walked these lands, I will do whatever it takes to restore the balance… I will sacrifice whatever I must. Like my father before me and his before him, I must work to purge the darkness from Borovia.
The anger inside me boils, I do my best to use it wisely, but it feels almost as if it is becoming a separate being within me. I fear the changes that it may bring, but my anger is my strength. I'm angry that our home has been abandoned to forces of darkness. I'm angry that my tribe must live in fear of the forest and not in harmony with it.
Doriel was brought up in a well to do family never wanting for much. As a child, he had a vision of Pelor telling him he would be do great things when he was older. His family sent him to Pelor’s Temple to study and training and paid well for it. The priests soon saw Doriel had an aptitude for healing as well as being very wise. Doriel concentrated his studies in the healing arts and in fighting with simple weapons. He graduated with above average marks after 4 yrs. The Temple then sent Doriel out to help others and to vanquish evil.
Born on a storm tossed night, under the hangman’s tree, his fathers body swaying above as his mother falls into labour, Skip started off his life in darkness. A darkness that would follow him, shape him, and do its best to break him.
His fathers name all but forgotten, Skip would be known by the omen of his fathers doom at his birth, eventually learning to accept it, and indeed take it as a name to shield himself from the pain.
The Gnome was a solitary figure during his youth, none of the village folk wishing their children to play with him, his very presence deemed a bad tiding, he learned to exist by himself, stalking the nearby woods and forests, hunting to feed himself and his mother.
Returning to his home in the dead of night, a brace of pheasants from a successful hunting slung over his shoulder, the coppery tang of spilled blood, the stink of fear sweat and the ripe stench of death assailed his nostrils. Creeping into the village, he found the entire population, gathered in the village square, fallen, their entrails spread about, blood seeping between every inert body. At the head of the crowd, a body he knew, tied to a stake and blindfolded, sagged against its bonds, eviscerated, it’s life blood pooling at her feet, his mother was dead.
Pushing down the fear he felt, Skip took his first step into blending with the shadows, drew his short bow, waiting, for the beast to reveal itself. When dawn broke, and no beast with it, Skip cut down his mother’s body and buried her. With nothing but a spit and a curse for the remains of the rest of the village, he gathered his meagre belongings, looting the villagers homes and, grimly, their bodies and left, attempting to track the beast that destroyed his kin.
Skip would find himself in the lowest parts of the towns and cities he would visit, learning the arts of theft in order to feed himself, selling small stolen trinkets and occasionally jewels to the local fences.
Even building on his underworld knowledge and contacts, Skip would never find much information about his mothers, and the villages, deaths. He did sometimes hear about other, mysterious mass murders, and investigated them from afar, the thirst for knowledge tempered by the knowledge that city watches and country sheriffs had no love for the burgeoning thief.
Hello again. There are a lot of melee and blaster mages on this recruitment. I think I have enough of those to choose from now. I recommend that there should be some cleric and support classes. You don't have to, but it will increase your chances of getting picked because there are already a lot of afore mentioned classes for me to choose. Thank you.
Backstory: Tara was the child of wandering minstrels who settled down in a town. Tara always loved playing instruments, but also felt drawn towards the gods. Due to her fondness for joy, Tara joined the clergy of Lliira, and tried to spread happiness to those she could. Sadly she found that the clergy are limited in what they can do. People seem to get more salvation from adventurers than any other kind of person, so Tara gathered up her lute and set out to adventure in the name of goodness and joy. She might not have the powers of a cleric, but she has studied other types of magic, and learned how to use her desire to help people and the joy of music to cast spells.

I think this is why DM's should start asking for players to apply with more than one character, lol.
Elena's mother was an elf of a high noble status. Her father was a wandering bard. He was charming and a highly skilled human, but without much money. They met in secret and fell in love.
The news of Elena's birth would have been scandalous among her mother's circles, and she did not want to bring shame to her house. Therefore, when Elena was born, her parents decided that her father would look after her. Although it broke their hearts, they agreed to never meet again for her safety.
Elena’s father raised her and taught her everything he knew. However, in time, her parents began meeting in secret again. One of the other nobles found out, and soon after the gossip was spread, her mother mysteriously died. They found, however, that unfortunately this made Elena heir to the house. Soon after she assumed her new title, her father was killed. Elena was convinced that one of the nobles assassinated her parents, jealous of their love and proud enough to hate the lower class.
Since then, Elena has bided her time. She hid her dislike of the upper class, becoming one of the people she hates and learning their games so that she can take advantage of her position when necessary. She pursued a life of adventuring because it gives her the chance to always be on the move – to see the world like her father would want, and to hide from the nobles who want her dead. She looks forward to the chance to get her revenge on anyone who thinks they are above others.
I am interested but before making a character I have a couple of questions.
1. As a relatively new player, I am not quite sure, which classes count as support? For example, are paladins and rogues support or melee?
2. How long is the game likely to last? Just want to check how long the commitment is likely to be.
Ability scores: 131212111116
1. Any class can be a support with the right specialization. The main two are cleric and bard in my opinion. Supports specialize in tanking, buffing, healing, assisting, and other similar tasks.
2. I will have to end sometime of the summer of next year because I plan on serving a two year mission for my church. I plan to do this and my other campaigns until then.

I was tempted to make a bard to stand out more, but I honestly didn't want to play one
Backstory: Lucan lived his early life in Daggerford, his mother is a human with curly brown hair and fair skin, she is a librarian, so Lucan grows up with books and stories. His father is an elf with dusky skin and short-cropped hair, but that is the only thing he remembers of his father since he is gone when Lucan is still a young boy. It happened one night when he saw a werewolf coming out of the window of his house and into the night, leaving a pool of blood in his father’s study. Everyone, from the city guard and even his mother, believes that the werewolf devoured his father but Lucan saw the eyes of the werewolf that night from the windows of his room and he saw sadness and regret, not anger or madness.
Lucan grows up to become a scholar, he attends bardic college in Waterdeep and learns spellcasting and poetry. He is also deep into learning about lycanthropes and their origin as his curiosity about his father’s unknown fate drives him into endless nights of research.
His research and study introduce him to a wealthy lady whose husband she believes is indeed a werewolf. She became his patron in the research for a possible cure. The research propels him to go into misty forest and dark forgotten ruins, usually accompanied by a bodyguard he pay with his research fund. As he goes deeper into his research, the more dangerous and less traveled the road he takes. Maybe one of these paths would lead him into a revelation or his demise.
