Hyre/Aelar
Barna freezes, then sighs.
"All right, I'll drop the stupid accent." she says, sounding completely different than she did before.
"Look, it's just easier when you sound like what people expect. Honestly, I couldn't believe my luck when you two came up to me. I just needed two clods I can lift, I figured I'd just enlist the help of any hapless beggars, but then he asks about books of all things, and you talk all charming... I thought you'd be more suspicious of me if I suddenly started talking normally. The truth is I don't want to JUST get sister Daar's locket back. I want.... to join the clergy." she says, wincing. "Yes, a half-orc whore wants to become a cleric. It sounds like a bad joke. I don't care!" she says, visibly upset, like she's expecting to be laughed at.
"I'm sorry I put on an act to try and enlist you, but I didn't lie about anything else. If we leave now, we can get the locket, I can ask sister Daar to put in a good word for me and you'll have some coins for your trouble, and I'll even show you where I've been able to do my studying in secret. Can we leave? Please?" she asks.

Aelar studies her again, trying to find out if she’s lying now. He looks over at Hyre and quirks an eyebrow.
ooc: he wants to help Hyre make the Insight roll with Advantage since Aelar already has a success.

Hyre tenses. He should have been more careful. He doesn't like being lied to. He studies her closely. Insight: 6

Hyre/Aelar
Hyre can tell Barna's not lying. (1/3 insight points gained!)
Barna's brow knots up and she watches the two stand silent, staring at her.
"What else do you want me to say? I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, have my share of whatever coins you get. I just... I need to get that locket back to her. It's my fault it got taken in the first place because I was too afraid to help her fight them off when they attacked. Please. Help me. I've got to make this right." she says, bowing her head in shame.

Hyre now feels uncomfortable. Overall it's a weird situation. "Okay... just don't lie to us again. Let's get this over with, lead the way."
Once she starts walking, Hyre will whisper to Aelar before starting to follow her: "Be on your guard. If anything happens, we just run away."

Hyre/Aelar
(You're checking it against another person, so a failure would have had consequence. If you're checking against someone else's stats, as long as you beat the requirement, that's a success and you can attempt that as many times a day as you want to gamble. When Aelar failed his intimidation on Jerren, he got into a fist fight. If you'd failed the check here, you wouldn't have believed her and missed out on going on this caper.)
Barna looks relieved and hurries off ahead. It's a good half an hour's jog away before she gets low and the group approaches an old, ramshakle barn just skirting the edge of Guiston town proper. The city is lit up by lanterns fueled entirely by magic, the glow of the lanterns changing shape into different designs every so often. The glow of the town, however, doesn't reach this lonely old barn, likely due to be demolished in the future to make way for expansion. There's three major sections of the barn, it seems. The corral, which has a relatively shallow roof, the loft, where part of the roof has collapsed inward, and the stable, where the gang seems to have congregated. There's a few lanterns lit inside, and the sound of maybe three people having a nearly unintelligible conversation.
Barna pulls Aelar and Hyre close, then points to the loft.
"That's where they keep everything they've stolen. What we're going to do is climb up onto the corral, then get up onto the barn. Here's why I'm going to need you two: There' a hole in the roof. Lazy ******** never bothered to fix it up. It's right above the loft, but there's no place to tie a rope to and if I were to just drop down, I'd make way too much noise. I'll hang down, and you two can climb down me. One of you will stay with me while the other picks up whatever you can carry, but remember, the locket is the prize. You'll know it when you see it, it'll be the most expensive looking thing there. You're going to need to find a bag or something or use your shirt... whatever you need to do to take as much as you can carry. Don't be stupid and try to carry everything or we're all going to get shot." she whispers.
"Whoever is hanging with me is the 'bag man'. You grab the loot and get out first, then the other one climbs up me, and I'll pull myself out. Shouldn't take more than a minute. We COULD sneak in the front, but I don't like our chances. We'd have to get past a few of them at least, and even drunk, it wouldn't be too hard for them to spot us. So, unless you two have any better ideas, I'm ready to climb."

"Don't get upset, Barna, but are you sure you can hang there long enough? With two people using you for a rope?" After she nods, he turns to Hyre, "You're the better climber," Aelar says to Hyre. "Which job do you want me to do?"
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
Hyre lets out a small yawn, realising he hadn't slept since they woke on the train. "Okay, let's get this over with. I'll climb down, he will be our bag-man. Is that okay with everyone?" He asks, but without waiting, Hyre attempts to climb up himself.

Hyre/Aelar:
Barna smirks and points to the tattered sleeves of her dress.
"I could do pull-ups with you two hanging off my legs, slim." she boasts, before she sees Hyre run off ahead. Barna grunts and hurries over to the corral behind him.
"Impulsive, isn't he?" she whispers as she follows Hyre, and gives Aelar a boost (so no need for an athletics roll)

She easily climbs up onto the corral roof, then hurries over to the hole in the barn roof overlooking the loft. She peers over the side, her night vision allowing her to see everything inside. It's not pitch black inside, just dim.
"All right, it's clear. No one's watching the loft. I was able to see a bag you could use, but it's got some useless crap in it. Just empty it as quietly as you can. I couldn't see the locket either, but I saw a wooden box it's probably in. Careful opening it, if it squeaks, just take it slow. If you can't find the locket... just forget it and take whatever you can. I'll figure something out on my own." Barna says.
She then undresses down to her simple loin cloth underwear and folds her dress up by the hole.
"That thing's barely holding together as it is, don't need my dress ripping and having you lose your grip. It's a long way down." she whispers.
"And don't worry about where you're grabbing onto. Trust me, this will be the least kinky thing I'll have had to do in months."
Climbing over the side, she hangs from the hole. She looks down and swallows hard. It looked so easy before, but now that she's actually doing it, it's a lot scarier than she anticipated. With Barna acting as the rope, there's another 5 feet or so down to the loft, but miss the loft, and it's 15 feet to the floor, more than enough to break an ankle.

Hyre climbs her down. It feels very weird and he's very embarassed, trying to avoid anything intimate. He can't see much as he drops the last 5 ft.

As he quietly lands on the floor, he looks around the place, trying to see if there's anything that looks especially valuable, while walking towards the bag and then, after emptying it, to the chest.
