Yeah no worries- I'm glad you're all well. December is always tough for us- two birthdays and Christmas plus the kids are on DL (distance learning) and I teach so I'm home trying to teach while they're doing school and - CHAOS! I picked up some commissions for work and they're all christmas presents for people so they have to be done by the 20th. The money is good but- I will be burning the midnight oil until then. Man- I think I need a magic psychedelic pool around here!
The story so far is great- I'm hooked. Take your time and we'll getthere when we get there.

Geoffrey grunts in response, limping over to Hyre to peer more closely at the egg.
"Queer thing to just stumble upon." he says. "And it was solitary? Even more peculiar. Any wild things that have found a home behind the walls wouldn't leave their eggs so unguarded." he states thoughtfully.
He lingers on a particular page for a moment before turning his attention to Hyre's inquiry with a wry smirk.
"Oh, gave myself away, did I? What was the tip, the missing arm or the full suit of armor on full display or the fact I introduced myself as 'sir'? Relax, boy. I'm down here because I have nothing else better to do than to help you pick through my collection... what else is there for an old soldier to do.." he mutters, glancing at the egg again.
"It's probably some sort of avian. The shape is wrong for a terrestrial egg, they're normally buried and not nearly as round." he observes.
Upon leaving the Hearth, Balgrim is escorted over to one of the 'labours' whose cart is now empty. Brother Ranik ushers him over.
" 'ere lad, not sure where ye stayin', but just speak a place ta the beastie and it'll take ye where ye want to go, long as there's life lines built there." Ranik says. "No need tae worry bout returning it, it'll head back this way once it drops ye off."

'Avian?' Hyre thinks for a moment, trying to recall if he ever heard the term before. 'A bird?' Hyre wants to ask Geoffrey many questions, but doesn't want to disturb his search. On the other hand, he doesn't want to just stand and wait. "Is there another book that might hold the answer? I'm sure we could find it faster if we all search together."

((Finally figured out what I'm gonna do! Welcome to the wheel.... of.... inebriation! I COULD just make up some circumstances and situations, but I think it'd be more fun if we all find out together exactly what your characters did while 'under the influence' since Leon and Kallista have chosen to relax and just let the herbs do their thing, allowing them to join in the fun!))
Everyone roll on the following D12 table to find out what their character did in their euphoria OR choose one of the effects. Just have the creativity to back it up if you choose to... choose!
1-Fell asleep in the bath--the priests put the character up for the night in comfortable lodging. How wholesome!
2-Told an embarrassing secret to the entire group and everyone remembers.
3-Had a vision (I will DM you about what you saw. It will be up to you whether or not to share it.) that also grants 10 class points towards your preferred class.
4-Had a strange hallucination and ends up separated from the rest of the group, comes to their senses fully dressed but also next to an unconscious man and holding a sack of 2D6 GOLD coins. The man reeks of alcohol.
5-Had a strange hallucination and ends up separated from the rest of the group, comes to their senses in the Warren while apparently wrestling with a bugbear in some kind of public competition! Prepare to BRAWL!
6-Had a strange hallucination and ends up in a very nice hotel bed, next to someone. No idea how they got there. Choose who it is yourself or roll 1D4: 1: Total stranger 2: A member of the group (You decide who, but DM first if it's okay) 3: Total stranger who's apparently wealthy and still asleep 4: Kina or Sister Daar or one of the satyr triplets (Or ALL of them!) Whether anything happened there is up to you!
7-Went on a 'spirit journey' where an animal guide offers the character an insight into surviving the wilds. Character instantly gains a complete and permanent proficiency in Survival and Medicine.
8-Character went on a 'spirit journey' and encountered the spirit of an ancient warrior who helps unlock the character's hidden potential. Character instantly gains a permanent +1 to STR, DEX, or CON, your choice, and an instant proficiency with exotic weapons.
9-Character went on a 'spirit journey' and encountered the spirit of an ancient being who helps unlock the character's spiritual potential. Character gains a permanent +1 to WIS or INT and grants the ability to cast bless once per day. This is a special case and does not grant proficiency in any other spellcasting. It's more of an ability than anything else.
10-Character went berserk in a nightmarish hallucination and was ejected from the bath house. They come to their senses wearing new clothes and have taken 1D8 in damage, but also instantly gain a permanent proficiency in simple weapons and +1 CON after apparently surviving a brawl with 3 thugs. They also gain a well-made buckler (AC +2) and a decently made hand mace (1D6 damage).
11-Colours and sounds become one and the character happens upon a revelation of self-reflection. They feel driven towards a specific goal and for 3 days in-game will gain advantage to ALL rolls and will ignore exhaustion (Until those 3 days are up at which case you will immediately suffer exhaustion for a full day.)
12-The character's mind is opened up to the presence of a powerful being that lives beneath the town of Guiston, a sleeping titan that for some reason, recognizes the character and knows why they were spared the same fate as their kin in Hon. Imbues the character with new strength but also, due to the nature of the 'gift', attaches a permanent vulnerability. Gain a permanent +1 to 2 physical AND mental ability scores (your choice) but your character will permanently suffer a -3 save penalty to mind altering affects.

Geoffrey hands Hyre a book of his own, blowing the dust off it as well.
"Take a look through this." he states, then considers something.
"If you're really serious about learning about this, I'll let you two come here and search through my collection whenever you'd like, but you'd better find what you're looking for quickly. Part of research is in knowing when you're in the wrong place. If you're just faffing about, get your own books." he states, then flicks his eyes over to Barna. "Work together."
(Roll for investigation with advantage since Barna is assisting. Failure means Geoffrey may become suspicious of the two. A success earns you another point towards gaining proficiency in investigation and survival.)

(OOC: Number 11 seems a bit familiar, doesn't it?)
Investigation: 10
"Actually," says Hyre while searching the book, "this isn't the only thing I want to study. I chose to start with the egg because I didn't know what will be the best place to start, but there are many other things that interest me. I'm sure I can find at least some of them here."

I think considering how they left off the logical (ha!) thing would be for Lazlo to wake up in a strange hotel next to Carrie (as tempting as it is to pick up a buff or some class points). He remembers nothing and is absolutely too embarassed to ask her how they got there or what happened.
"Whussa... whazit? Where am I? Oh! my muse! Morning."

((I don't know what you're talking about ;3 ))
Hyre finds an entry about what he's looking for. It seems that the egg is from a creature known as a 'bullet hawk', so named because they're capable of turning their bodies into a mineral of incredible hardness as they dive bomb their prey, impacting beak-first with tremendous force. They seem capable of maintaining sensory awareness despite all indications that their entire being has been changed to this incredibly hard rock and know when it's safe to return to normal. They grow to have a 4-foot wing span and weigh about thirty pounds on average. If raised from birth, they are also trainable. Eggs are highly prized, though only a select few know of their value as hunting companions. They're sometimes gifted to noblemen. The eggs stay in their mineral state until the very day of their hatching.
Geoffrey sits on an old stool while he watches the pair research.
"Find what you're looking for?" he asks, wryly.

Lazlo is completely wrapped up in Carmine's limbs, and the two of them are completely naked beneath the sheets.
"Mmmmm, good morning, beautiful." Carmine purrs as she squeezes him tightly.
"Make the morning go away. I'm not ready to leave this dream." she murmurs and buries Lazlo's face into her breast, giving a soft giggle.
It's clear that something happened. Clothes are strewn about the hotel room and... Lazlo sees an instrument in the room. All around, the pair are surrounded by fine furniture, proper glass windows, exotic decorations, this is the hotel room of an important person. And... it's definitely not THEIRS. They certainly didn't pay for the room.
Lazlo gets a faint, ever so faint idea of what happened the previous night. It's possible he ended up performing the song he dreamed up... possibly in public? No, it was a theater. How did he get on stage?
He can't remember if the room they're in is some place they sneaked into or were gifted in exchange for the performance. Where are Carmen and Cameron? They were there, too. At least, they probably were?
The instrument is of 29 average quality and looks nearly broken. and there's a sack of 10 silver in the room, strewn about carelessly.

Hyre reads the entry carefully. "I think so." He turns the book and gives it to Geoffrey. "What do you think? I think it fits. Do you think I could raise it? I don't have a lot of experience with animals, but they always seem easier to handle than people."
While the man looks at the entry, Hyre looks at Barna. Since they got to Guiston, other than that one time she tried to deceive him, she had done nothing but help him, and the measure of help overweights the measure of lies by so much it becomes insignificant. He wanted to thank her somehow, show her his gratitude... but he wasn't sure how. There were more pressing matters at the moment, but these thoughts began to form in his mind.

Lazlo sinks back into bed, falling into Carries arms. "Go away, morning... " he murmers sleepily. He allows himself to enjoy a few more minutes of the best morning of his young life. He eyes the room, the bed, the furnishings- this was the nicest place he has ever seen. He notices the worn violin and the coin pouch, making a mental note to take them with him. He looks at Carrie next to him, sleeping peacefully. "She's got this cute little snore.... sigh." He was sure that they should be going before they got into any trouble- but he certianly didn't want to.
He slips back into the soft bed, curling up next to the sleeping Satyr, and whispers "As perfect as this is- we should go soon." and kisses her everywhere she allows.
"You think they'd know if I nick that fiddle? I bet I can get it fixed..."

Geoffry looks surprised.
"You want to train it? Not trade it away?" he asks, and folds his arms. He looks closely at Hyre, trying to determine if he's being genuine.
"Could you care for it properly? Keep it fed and housed? Bullet hawks are renowned for their courage and loyalty to their handlers. That sort of devotion must be generously rewarded and deserved." he states seriously, then folds his arms.
"If you are indeed serious about this... I believe I could teach you how." he says, and gestures to the bird statue, and then to his suit of armor. On the chest is a hawk. The 'watcher' statue is a hawk.
"Pardon the deception, but I wanted to be sure you were actually curious about the creature." he says. "It's been a .... long time since I've been able to see one of those birds."
Barna perks up.
"If you have such an extensive collection... why don't you have your own flock?" she asks.
Geoffry clears his throat and flexes the stump of the arm he's missing.
"You can't train a hawk with only one arm, girl." Geoffry responds. Barna 'ooohs' and looks embarrassed.
"What IS the story with you two, anyway? Have to say, you're an unlikely pair. Courting?" he asks.
Barna's eyes dart over to Hyre and she quickly looks away, ears going from orcish grey to dark purple in a flush.

Imbues the character with new strength but also, due to the nature of the 'gift', attaches a permanent vulnerability. When Kallista closes her eyes and breaths in, she does her best to just... let go. She couldn't remember the last time that she just let herself sit there and relax, without worry about looking over her shoulder to see if anyone else was following her. Her parents had never really loved her, but the idea of their 'damaged' daughter being out somewhere in the world potentially making a mockery of them meant she was never really sure if they would send someone to find her and bring her back to them. Still though, for now at least she was safe.
She felt something probing at the surface of her mind, and while she panicked at first... something about it made her feel, well okay was the wrong word. But she wasn't scared of whatever it is.

Carmine rouses completely from sleep and squirms as Lazlo tickles her with his lips, then grabs him with her arms and legs and pulls him down atop her and gives him a long, passionate kiss. She has the kind of dexterity in her tongue that could tie a bow.
"Absolutely not." she responds, rubbing her nose against his. "We're taking our sweet time. It took all night to get you in this bed. I'm in no hurry to let you out of it." she grins wickedly.
