"Amazing.. It's like he read my mind, Sir Dwarf." Lazlo whispers to the half dead grandfather he carries in his arms. "On it, Aelar!" The Satyr makes his way outside of the shop, onto the street (careful to avoid crashing into a possibly Hasted demoness). Gently laying the old dwarf somewhere comfortable, despite the fact that he has limited skill with medicine- he knows something must be done for this old man (even if just to be with him as his story ends). "Sorry, my venerable friend... I'm not the best at this but the alternative is not doing anything. Before I start let me just say your beard is quite striking. This might hurt..."

((I think now it's Hyre (or Hasted Kal?), the Labors, then the NPC’s, then Leon, then Atetra. Congratulations on making PAGE 100 everyone!))

((Indeed! I haven't had a chance to work on the NPC portraits yet so you all can put some faces to the characters you've befriended so far, so long as all of them survive the attack, that is... though part of me is a little bit 'd'oh' considering we've been on just the prologue for 8 months, but we've had slowdowns, health issues, and other things getting in the way... but at this point, I'd say the bonds have indeed grown between our heroes, which was the whole point of it.))
Kallista is now hasted and can act twice next turn.
As Aelar swings his serpent's tongue, he doesn't have quite a clear enough shot to hit the heart stone, but he DOES manage to grapple onto one of the metal plates of the Labor. With a mighty yank, he actually pries the plate back, making a secondary exposed area to strike on the mechanical beast.
Meanwhile, Lazlo manages to stabilize the old dwarf, staunching his bleeding at least for the moment. He doesn't respond, seeming to just be clinging to life. Lazlo is the length of a school bus away from what's happening right now, so he's still able to see everything.
The Labors continue to attempt to break free of Kallista's influence: 4 they begin to move, but extremely slowly. It looks like they may break free very shortly.

Seeing all the wounded are out of the store, Hyre stands up and turns to Aelar and everyone else still in the store. "Let's go. We're not here to destroy labours. Our next target was the Dwarves, wasn't it? Shutting it down there will be more efficient than destroying the heart stone of every single one of them." He then leaves the store, running outside towards the rest, perhaps even starts to climb the building towards the Kite, if he can.

Barna searches frantically in the store for intact medicinal supplies to use on Grimbuld.
Barna's perception: 16
She manages to find some crude materials to make some bandages with and flags down Kina.
"We need to stop the bleeding.." she says. She does not, however, have enough time this turn to begin stabilizing Grimbuld, so Kina does her best.
Kina's medicine: 15
She succeeds in stabilizing Grimbuld.
Raia attempts to resist the effects of exhaustion to access one of her abilities: 12
Still she cannot find the strength. She instead moves to protect Grimbuld by getting between the Labors and Kina, who is attending Grimbuld.
Leon is hesitant to leave.
"There are supplies here we could need at the Hearth. There's only three left, we can do this!" he says, and leaps upon the back of the labor Aelar pried the back plate off of, using the opening to try and find the mark to destroy its heart stone.
Leon's attack: 8 damage: 7
He pierces the heart stone and the Labor clatters to pieces under him. There's just two left.

Without a clear shot to the heart stone, the arrow deflects off of one of the Labor's plates. One of the remaining two turns its head towards the group, still shuddering and clanking about.
Grimbuld and the dwarf are now out of range for the Labors to attack if they manage to survive until their action and break free of Kallista's control, but this round, Kina and Barna won't be able to act as they're continuing to tend to the two and are guarding them.
Kallista is next to act, with two actions.

Kallista moves back into Grimbuld's shop, taking the bow he gave her from her back. She moves to try and get a line of sight on the Front of the Laborer's and their heartstones before shooting 2 arrows at one of them to try and pierce it.

Kallista's enhanced abilities makes her arrows hit like rifle rounds. She pierces straight through one of them despite not quite having the right angle to do so, and the second escapes complete destruction only because its plate partially deflected the arrow away from the heart stone. Now, however, there is a gaping hole in its back and it'll be much easier to just pluck the heart stone out or smash it.

Aelar darts a quick smile at Kallista. "Well struck, sister!" Swirling the Serpent's Tongue, he brings the head down on the exposed heart stone.

Aelar fells the final Labor with a well placed strike of his twin-headed flail. The mechanical beast clatters apart into simple metal plates, clearing the store entirely. While the streets aren't quiet by any means; the sound of fighting elsewhere in the city is still an audible din--the group has time to take a breather.
Grimbuld raises his head as he sees the last of the Labors fall.
"The safe..." he mutters out.
Kina carries the old ranger over to the debris blocking the way, tossing it aside with little effort. Using Kina for support, Grimbuld unlocks the huge iron safe that protects his collection of bows, then slides onto the ground next to it.
In Grimbuld's safe are 4 bows of various designs, though Kallista recognizes the crimson bow she used to fell the troll, as well as an assortment of very high quality arrows. There's another bow with curious gears and pulleys made of a lightweight metal of dwarfish design, a bow that looks like it was simply hewn out of a single branch of an unknown tree, and a white bow... it's not painted white, the wood itself is unnaturally white. There's also 4 quivvers filled with 20 shots each, some with wide, blade-like heads, others with piercing heads like what Kallista used before, some arrows made of the same wood as the white bow, and some arrows that look totally unremarkable.
"Take... that you need... I'll be here.... waiting for you.... to bring them back... they're rentals, not gifts..." he sputters out.
Kina picks the ranger up and hoists him onto her back.
"I'll get him and the dwarf to the Mission. Sister Daar will be able to protect them." she says.
The kite is still hovering above, waiting for the group's decision for their next destination. Leon seems to want to get to Lady Ashwa, whose estate is already under seige.
DM, professional illustrator and comic artist, suffering from severe spinal stenosis, married, middle aged, and nerdy.
"I know Leon, but the best way for us to help her, and everyone else, would be to shut down the source - the heart chamber," Hyre says, hoping his friend would think about it rationally.
Then, Hyre looks over the bows. This could be a great upgrade from his small knife if the arrows can pierce through the labours' hard metal. He preferred to avoid a situation where he should use it because that means something is also capable of using a weapon against him, but he understands that might be unavoidable if they're to shut down the heart chamber. At the very least, Kallista in her new form seemed more than capable to do it on her own, which would mean it won't depend on his non-existent skill with a bow. He could probably use them somewhat effectively... if they're anything like toy bows they made as kids... but maybe someone else could use them in a better way. And, even if there are enough bows for all to take, he had no idea which bow would be best. How could he judge a thing he understands so little about simply by looking?
He turns to the others. "Anyone wants a bow? We should hurry though; the labours continue to wreak havoc while we wait."
Varielky
ooc: Would the bow with gears count as an exotic weapon, Kina?
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
((The bow with the gears is NOT an exotic weapon, no. It's just a dwarfish compound bow that hits as hard as an English war bow with a fraction of the effort. It must have been something Grimbuld adopted in his later years hunting as his aching joints started slowing him down. None of the bows are any different than regular bows, only that they're of exceptional quality and provide bonuses to make up for even the most novice shot.))
Leon considers Hyre's words and then sighs.
"I know in my head that you're right, Hyre... but she could need help NOW, and we have no idea what's waiting for us at the Hearth. It could take time she doesn't have to stop the heart chamber, that's what MY heart says." he says, then looks to Aelar and Raia.
"Can you get another impression of what is happening with Ashwa? It might help if we could just get one more look at what's happening with her before we move..."
DM, professional illustrator and comic artist, suffering from severe spinal stenosis, married, middle aged, and nerdy.
Aelar moves forward and takes the white bow and white arrows. He puts them on as he's seen Kallista and Grimbuld do. Looking at Leon, he listens and then turns to Raia. "I don't know. Can we?"
As they discuss, he waits for the others to select a bow and then finds a large sack and puts what's left, bows and ammunition, into it.
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
Raia looks to Aelar with some uncertainty.
"If you can help me again, I might be able to give you a quick look." she says. "It might be asking too much of your body... are you sure?"
If Aelar wants to go ahead, roll a CON save for me if you please, to see if you save vs. exhaustion. If you don't, you still succeed in getting a vision, you'll just have level 1 exhaustion afterwards. Also, roll a perception check, to see how clear the vision Aelar gets is.
DM, professional illustrator and comic artist, suffering from severe spinal stenosis, married, middle aged, and nerdy.
Aelar doesn't hesitate before he stretches out his hand...but then pulls it back. He'd been accused of rashness before and this was no time for more of the same. Could he afford to be at less than full strength right now? He was at his peak but that wasn't much, yet. No, now was not the time. He liked Lady Ashwa and even owed her, but there were larger considerations right now. She would understand that.
He shakes his head and turns to Leon. "I'm sorry, Leon. The best way we can help Ashwa is by shutting down the Labors. We're not all that good even at our best and we can't afford to get tired out going from crisis to crisis. We should head over to the Heart Chamber and turn them all off there." He turns to Hyre. "Lead the way."
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
Lazlo snorts and looks up from tending to the wounded Dwarf. “Easily said, Aelar… when The worry is not yours… Raia- can you use anyone’s strength to see a vision, or just your chosen? Leon- if you worry for her then I’ll go to her with you should you choose.” He then continues to tend to the fallen dwarf as best he can.
