If Balgrim is MIA, what should we do going forward? - Single Choice
Shall we seek a 6th party member? - Single Choice
His equanimity finally pierced, the elf rounds on his friend. "How dare you, Lazlo! I'm very worried about Ashwa, more than you are! Much more! I'm the one who wanted to check on her. Did she get you into the Nest? Did she stop the guards from beating you! No! She did that for me...yes, at Leon's request but she still helped ME! Sure, we could run off and help her...IF we could get into the Nest through the one gate, with the crowd of people fighting each other and trampling each other to get out. Sure, some of us could take the kite, or all of us. And after that we could go and help Edna and Thomas and stop by the Inn on the way...if we're not all dead by then. Not to mention hundreds of other people. People we could help all at once by turning off the power Labors at the source. It hurts me more than I can say to turn Leon down and not try to take another peek at Ashwa. But what if I end up like Raia, so tired I can barely walk. Look at her! What if you end up like that? How does that help anyone, Lazlo? How? Right now there are no good choices, just a whole bunch of bad ones and all we can do is our best to pick the least bad of those."
Finally, his hurt, pain, and anger purged for now, Aelar stops.
"I'm sorry, Lazlo. I shouldn't have unloaded on you like that. But it's not that I don't care. It's that I don't think doing this will actually help. We can't do much against the dozens of Labors that are there. We barely handled these and only because Kallista was able to freeze them. I know you want to help. Me too. But...we have to be smart about it and do the most good...don't we?"

"How dare I? How bloody dare I?" the satyr chuckles. "You can keep your apology, I don't need it. I don't want it. We risked all for your lady" he says, nodding at Raia. "Because you asked us to. When you called. All said and done, the choice should be Leons. If I didn't think that Carrie was mopping the floor with these labors I would go right now to help her- alone if need be... just like you would have, when Raia called. Gods damn it... and sod it all..." The satyr says, wiping the dwarf's blood off on his pants. Lazlo stands up, still looking down on the injured man. "If we can't help those we care about, what good are we?" he growls to himself. Not knowing whether or not they could take the dwarf where they were going, he looks for someplace safe to keep him out of harms way.

Hyre silently watches Aelar and Lazlo argue. It was a strange experience not being the one arguing about such a matter. He had his opinion on the matter but kept it to himself at the moment... though the others could probably guess it. In the end, he did advocate to go save Grimbuld before the heart chamber, though that was merely for a hope that Grimbuld would join and aid them with his battle prowess. Seeing the ranger's current state tells Hyre that it's not going to happen. Well, at least they got to use these bows, which seem to go ignored at the moment. Still not sure which to use, he speaks to the others: "So, anyone wants a bow?" And then, after allowing the others to take first if they wish it, he decides that time matters more in this case, closes his eyes and picks one at random.
Hyre then begins to climb towards the Kite. "Whichever destination we choose, we should hurry, or our choices will mean nothing for everyone!" He calls to the ones still below.
Is a roll required for the climb? If so, Athletics: 19 (I think the +1 is added, yes?)
Also, for the randomly chosen bow, since Aelar took one bow, this leaves us with three. 6. Divide the number by two, round up to find which bow he took. If someone else chooses a bow, divide by three and round up. If only one bow is left, he'll just take that one.
1 - Chrimson.
2 - Dwarven.
3 - Single branch of an unknown tree.

Atetra ignores the bickering and follows his tunnel vision towards the beautifully crated bows. He cycles through them before deciding on the dwarven mechanical bow and the quiver of piercing arrows. He then brings his attention back to the drama going on in the room making his way towards the kite slowly waiting on his friends to decide where our next heading is.
((LorrdWolf I'm glad you enjoyed my once every 5 pages stirring of the pot. I was hoping you would receive that in good spirits.))
Now it was Lazlo's turn to blush. He wasn't used to being well... so serious. Is this what it meant to cast off the whims of childhood and become an adult? Sod that, if so. Embarassed about his outburst but unwilling to talk any more about it, Lazlo listens to Hyre and chooses the bow made out of a single branch and takes a quiver of arrows. He looks up at the kite hovering above "Note to kite drivers: get some long rope ladders for emergencies such as this! I was voted 'most likely to break my neck climbing up the side of a building' at school. Wait, I never went to school. Nevermind."

"Anyone else? Leon? Aelar? Kallista? Raia? Someone?" Hyre makes sure nobody wants the last bow before, if nobody truly does, takes the crimson bow that was left, as well as a quiver of arrows. It looked very inefficient if he'll need to move with it, but hopefully, he'll not need to use the bow at all. "Let's go," he tells Aelar and Raia, "do your thing while on the Kite."

Aelar, once he and Raia are able to connect, share their strength to give him a proper view of what's happening to Ashwa. The 'pense' is much stronger, so he can get a sense of her physical condition and mental state due to the distance being much shorter.
Ashwa's condition: 10
Ashwa is gravely injured. The Labors broke through the gates and the nobles have been forced into her inner chambers where she took a savage beating trying to shelter one of the noble children who got separated from her parents. She's standing, but just barely, and the makeshift barricade that the survivors of the attack have put up won't hold for long. If the group can stop the heart chamber quickly, the attack will end, but should they take too long... Aelar saw the state the barricade was in. They have minutes before everyone behind the barricade is brutally trampled to death.
Moveover, Aelar can feel Ashwa's desperation, fear, and the confusion over why no one from the Watch has come to help them. Does he tell Leon the whole truth, or withhold anything so he doesn't get overly emotional?
Meanwhile, Kina has left for the Mission, swiftly carrying Grimbuld and the old dwarf away. The fighting in the Warren is far, far less intense as there are much fewer Labors that are used in this area. It seems like the common folk have the threat more or less contained.
Kallista, meanwhile, is large and strong enough and moreover, still hasted so she can quickly ferry her companions up onto the kite with little trouble even if it means being uncomfortably hoisted up by the belt or squeezed against her chitinous armor plates.

((Do another perception check if you want to switch your target.))
Aelar can't see an exact number, but through the stronger connection gets a sense that Ashwa's manor was at least initially attacked by at least two dozen Labors. Given the sheer amount of furniture that was needed to properly barricade the doors, the defenders were only able to take down a few, if any, of the initial attackers.

Aelar gets only a hazy impression of what Balgrim can see. He's alive, and not in combat... that's all he can pense on the situation at the Hearth, at least, where Balgrim is holed up.

Aelar swears using some of the language he picked up from the farm hands at Thomas and Edna's. The he turns to the others. "OK, bad news all around. First, the Labors have gotten into Ashwa's house. She's hurt but alive and all that's separating her and everyone else there is a barricade which won't last more than a few minutes. Worse, there're at least 20 Labors, probably more like 2 dozen there. I couldn't get anything more about the Hearth except that Balgrim is alive and not fighting."
Letting them all think on that, he turns to the pilot. "How quick could you get to the Nest and how many guards could you carry? They can't get into the Nest because of everyone trying to leave but maybe you can start ferrying them in, starting with Lady Ashwa's house. Do you know it?"
Turning back to the others, he points back at the pilot. "That's just so we know. What're we going to do? Split up? Some going to Ashwa on the kite and some going to the Hearth? All going one place or the other?"
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
The driver responds, shouting down.
"The kite can carry some twenty humans and arms... it would be simple enough to just point us in the direction her home is in, we'll be able to see it pretty easily. We can be at the gates of the Nest in just a few minutes." he responds.
The driver seems much more at ease, seeing the Warren is in considerably better shape than the Nest is... though it's plain to see that he really wants to check on his own family. He recognizes, however, that the group he's with stand a much better chance at actually making a difference than just flying off in a panic towards his home.

Aelar looks at the others. "What do you all think?"

((Ooc: A part of me really does think it should be Leon’s call- but that’s moot as we’d need a Leon for that. Anyone talk to him? I see the sense in going with Aelar and Hyre’s plan of heading to the heart chamber. Bacon What does Kallista want to do? at this point if she’s throwing level 6 spells out there we’re probably safest with her!))
Fleabag Fleabane -Tabaxi Ranger | Lenny Coggins- Halfling Barbarian | Sid Shatterbuckle- Dwarf Fighter/Rogue| Lazlo - Satyr Bard in Training
((Unfortunately, I haven't had any communication with Leon for about 3 weeks now. He hasn't responded to my DMs yet so I don't know what's going on. Also, Kallista has access to a few level 8 spells that she hasn't pulled out yet XD ))
Leon looks to Geoffrey for council.
"Our objective is clear, Leon. We MUST stop the heart chamber to bring an end to this attack." he states.
"We don't have any time to waste! We'll head to the gates and see if there's anything we can do to help there; if the Watch can make it through the gate, they can start helping civilians while we handle the chamber. We have weapons and specially crafted arrows and a kite; we stand the best chance of ending this the fastest." Geoffrey suggests.

((Lvl. 8?!? whoah. I figured when her spell save DC was 25 she was a goddess- I'm running Curse of Strahd for my friends and the big bad Strahd's spell save DC is like a 17 or 18 lol!))
"Then let's go end this. The sooner we do that, the safer everyone will be." Lazlo says, trusting completely in the sense of the old knight. "What do we know about the chamber? Sir Geoffrey is there anything we can do to prepare for what's coming? Is it normal to feel nauseous before combat?"
Fleabag Fleabane -Tabaxi Ranger | Lenny Coggins- Halfling Barbarian | Sid Shatterbuckle- Dwarf Fighter/Rogue| Lazlo - Satyr Bard in Training
OOC: I’m confused by Geoffrey’s comment. On the one hand he says go to the Heart Chamber. On the other he says go To the gates and try to help there. Also, how long would it take to reach the Hearth (and the Heart Chamber) from Grimbuld’s shop, on foot?
