Having silently observed as his companions attempted to engage the entity, Valhik drew his crossbow out and readied a bolt. As the creature reveals itself and warns them ominously he decides the time has come to forgo diplomacy. Jumping out from behind Owin he fires off a bolt at the scarecrow and then exchanges his crossbow for his rapier.

Valhik suddenly appears from behind the big human warrior and fires a crossbow that sails right through the mid-section of the scarecrow, embedding itself into the creature's torso, amidst the straw and other materials that have been stuffed into the old tattersall shirt. The creature looks somewhat surprised, glancing down to where the bolt is, then it turns its eyes to the gnome and chuckles a horrible laugh. "Heheheheheh......" The bolt though it was true, does not seems to have had as much of an effect as you would have thought.
(Owin, Hurmfar, and Noachi, y'all have your turns.)
Hurmfar draws his rapier but doesn't move forward to engage.
"I’d rather listen to me bird die than listen to you for another second," he says at the sounds of the scarecrow laughing. "You jobby-flavoured wee shite."
As he speaks, the slightest hint of a melody flows through the insults.

Scarecrow WIS Save - 20
The scarecrow's head jerks dramatically towards Hurmfar, and you swear you see the slightest twitch in the unholy monster's horrific eyesocket twitch as he hears the Goliath bard's insult. The song Hurmfar weaves into the insult really seems to bother the creature in some way and he has a good long think about the sound of his voice.
As Noachi notches her arrows and sends it on flight towards the scarecrow, it strikes true, hitting it right where its neck should be. There is an explosion of straw as the arrows sails through, but the creature seems unphased, snarling in anger.
He sees one of the axes that Owin has thrown and slaps it away with his black, gnarled claws. The second axe hits the creature square where its mouth should be and as the creature opens it mouth the axe hangs there, embedded in the scarecrow's maw. The possessed bag of straw has taken a lot of hits, but still seems to be moving.
The scarecrow looks at each of you in turn, and perhaps still stung by the insult, focuses its rage upon the Goliath bard. He moves towards him and then looks directly at Hurmfar hissing in a deep unholy voice "Loooook at meeeeeeee...."
(Hurmfar, make a WIS save DC 11 saving throw or be paralyzed with fear for the next minute.)
As the scarecrow holds Hurmfar's gaze, he is struck totally unaware by a firebolt that Erbert flings at him. It strikes him dead in the side, and the straw kindling that seems to animate him catches fire, burning him away. The fire seems to be doing a lot of damage to the creature.
Valhik holds out his rapier in front of him. After initially seeing all of the party's hits have no apparent effect, he didn't imagine the blade would do much in the way of holding it back. But then Erbert lit the thing up like a holiday torch and it didn't seem quite so imposing any more. The gnome continues to hold the blade out and prepares himself for if the scarecrow makes any move in his direction. (Holding dodge action)

Noachi's arrow hits the scarecrow and another huge puff of straw and necrotic magic emerge from the creature as it spins around from the impact. At the moment, with the number of arrows and crossbow bolts in the scarecrow, it looks more like a pincushion than a malevolent construct. It seems to have an even greater difficulty walking now, and its movements are strained and herky-jerky. Seeing the little gnome that lit it on fire is out of range, it will instead move into distance of Owin, who also has a fiery torch lit and rake his long, gnarled claws at the fighter.
Claw Attack: 22 Damage: 8
The claws sink deep into Owin's flesh at ribs and he feels a searing burning pain and an increasing fear as he looks deep into the scarecrow's eyes.
(Make a WIS saving throw DC 11 -- Erbert, its your turn. The scarecrow is rapidly shedding straw and is looking very weak.)

Scarecrow - 6 or take 1fire damage
The scarecrow tries to move out of the way, but the sheer amount of stuffing it lost makes it difficult for him to move so much of his lower body is consumed by the flames Erbert creates. The scarecrow makes an unholy gurgling sound as it reaches out desperately, trying to grasp onto one of you. The scarecrow looks as though it is very near death

Is that a whole game minute, as in 10 rounds? Any chance of another save each round?
"Damned magic scarecrow... what in the blazes makes these type of things??!"
Owin backs up about another 20 ft, kneels down, and lights his torch, embedding the handle in the ground and kneeling behind it...
He then gets his longbow out...

Hurmfar struggles to move but finds he can’t flex a muscle, not even blink an eyelid. Well, I guess I got the bugger’s attention he thinks.

"Sod you," Hurmfar says to the scarecrow when he gets control of his muscles back.
He stares down the creature one more time and unleashes another round of insults with just a hint of melody laced through them.
