The dwarves are aghast at the idea that you might not leave immediately. Hruna says, "Begging your pardon, but I'm sure that you can accomplish this mission by dinnertime, which we will happily purchase for you if you are successful. The four hour estimate was conservative, in case you are slow walkers. You may be able to get there in three."
She gives you a more thorough description of the area where the sled was left, so that you can find it. She also indicates that your group should have no problem pulling the sled back. Once it gets some momentum, it doesn't take a lot of strength to keep it going. If 4 dwarves can do it, you can too!
((For purposes of convenience, I'll allow that the two lizardy PC's in the group (Ssej and Nazcan) are able to move at about the same speed without snowshoes as the other humanoids are with snowshoes. That way the dwarves gave you enough snowshoes after all, assuming you hook up with your last 2 groupmates and (recommended) all go together))
Sheriff Southwell, still bundling up to prepare to leave, answers Ssej:
"They'll be at the Hooked Knucklehead, just across the market square from here. If you bring the goods back here, though, we can get you there. Artie can show you if I'm still out on my investigation."
((Let me cook up a little map for you to show you what the dwarves described))
With snowshoes equipped on the 4 non-reptilian party members (Variety, Auraani, Matthias, Karl, you may add to your inventory) you head back out the north gate and set Kelvin's Cairn squarely in your sights, leaving the road you had just come down this morning. It's just a barely visible pale smudge of snow-covered mass in the distance, but visible it is.
At this midmorning time there is a feeble glow on the southeastern horizon as if the sun is trying to rise, but you already know from experience that it won't get any brighter than that. Of more immediate concern are dark, low clouds coming in from the west.
At first you are able to follow the obvious footprints of the dwarves, which make an unerringly straight course, raising your confidence that you'll find their sled with no trouble. In less than an hour, however, the tracks vanish. They must have been obliterated by the blizzard the dwarves had found themselves in. But the tracks had been so straight, leading directly towards Kelvin's Cairn, it seems a simple enough matter to continue that course.
After about 3 hours, you crest a snow-covered ridge and see a frozen, dismembered corpse in the gully in front of you. Snow covers some of the gory bits, but the headless torso and severed limbs are visible. You see tracks in the snow all around the corpse, and the telltale grooves in the snow left behind by a sled that has been hauled away.
Matthias starts off a bit unsteady on his snowshoes but picks up the necessary gait soon enough. He still struggles from time to under the weight of his pack. He has not been in the frozen north for that long and still manages to be impressed by the harsh beauty of the frozen landscape. That abruptly comes to an end at the horrible sight of the dismembered body. It sends a stronger shudder through him than the cold.
His eyes follow the trail of the stolen sled for as far as he can make it out. He looks to the rest of the group. "Seems we have an easy enough trail to follow," he says, though he does not sound particularly excited about the longer journey ahead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Ssee what you can disscover here, I will follow the trail a bit and ssee where it goess." Ssej replies and then disappears into the shadows following the trail.
- The tracks are very fresh. Although you can’t see the tracks’ owners, you suspect that your group may be able to overtake them if they’re struggling with the sled.
"Alright then," Variety says, rubbing the palms of her hand and blowing into them, using some minor magic to warm her gloves up a bit. "But we should hurry."
Auraani pushes forward along with the others and then remembers what happened earlier. "Have any of you heard that there is a killer on the loose? Someone is killing people on the night of the lottery back there. I got some info from a lady earlier today."
Within 30 minutes you crest another rise and catch sight of the sled, being pushed along by 6 small figures. They appear to be goblins, based on their stature. All six of them groan, grunt, and curse loudly as they haul the bulky sled toward a dark shape in the distance. They're still several hundred feet away from it, and slow going. The sled is probably less than 150 feet away from your position. The goblins are absorbed in their work and not taking careful note of their surroundings.

Nazcan declines the snow shoes "No thanks, the cold doesn't bother me anyways"

Auraani attempts to take Variety's hand and pull her along to find the others.
(OOC: Wink wink, nudge nudge, we gotta go! lol)
Ssej smiles inwardly, so easy to get more out of desperate creatures, "Where sshould we meet you upon our return."

Best I can do for now is a link
Variety follows along, "what is going on?"
Elra Skylash - Human Cleric | Vanzaren Tanidoni - Half Elf Wizard
Mindartis Liadon - Eladrin Barbarian | Naivara Siannodel - Half Elf Ranger
Arrila Evenwood - Half Elf Paladin | Callaphe of Setessa - Human Rogue
Katernin Nemetsk - Aasimar Cleric | Melody - Tiefling Bard
The various adventurers easily spot each other in the street and you’re reunited.
Ssej hisses in laughter at Variety's questions, "Lookss like we are heading north a bit to go hunt a rabid yeti, sshould be fun."

Stealth: 17
Survival: 15
[OOC: Dice Gods I swear! You strike again, sigh.]
Ssej, as you study and follow the tracks, several things become clear to you:
-The tracks indicate multiple smaller-sized humanoids, wearing snowshoes.
- The tracks are very fresh. Although you can’t see the tracks’ owners, you suspect that your group may be able to overtake them if they’re struggling with the sled.
Variety looks at the trail, "Ya, but it's a sled. Do you really think we stand a chance of keeping up with it?"

"Let'ss hurry and catch who sstole our prize, the weather is jusst going to get worsse." Ssej comes back to the group and mentions.
"Looks like they're pulling it, not riding it, and I see no paw prints. Ssej is right."
Karl shivers a bit and begins to press on.
Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
Matthias nods at the lizard man’s words. “Let’s keep moving,” he says, falling in to his spot in their formation.
