Though it takes Wick a short time to locate his pony (who had bolted into the woods), he found the beast had not gone far before getting its reins tangled several low-hanging tree branches. The party reassembled and everyone remounted, the rest of the ride to the mine proves uneventful. However, as the party draws near their destination, everyone (but Warren) notices large tracks in the snow heading in the same direction as the mine. As the route continues, so too do the tracks, growing more frequent the closer you get...
"Humans and other buggers with bad eyes to the back. Everyone keep in sprinting distance at all times, and make sure the horses are secured inside the mine entrance before we head further in. Don't want our rides freezing on us. Might not be a bad idea to set up a base camp further in and move the horses there once it's secure. If there are any more big bastards wandering around, the animals will be a pretty tempting target."
Grigor agrees. "Anything we find in there is likely to already have the ability to see in the dark, so it's not like we'd gain much advantage by not having our own light source."
Upon returning to the village of Borgstrand with Anaya’s remains, your employer, the young nobleman Raphail Manolou, pays each of you as promised. Naturally, the bereaved man is devastated at the loss of Anaya, but grateful for your success at returning her body for a proper funeral.
With the mine tunnels still infested by buzzjewels (not to mention whoever or whatever lit those torches on the upper level), the mines are, unfortunately, worthless at present.
You did manage to collect a living buzzjewel which may prove valuable to the right person or persons (such as a sage, alchemist, or mage), but you would need to spend some time tracking down such a prospective buyer. Furthermore, you learned that pearls are highly toxic to the glittering insects - information that might also prove valuable to the right person or persons (such as anyone seeking to purchase, clear out, and reopen the mine).
Party rewards earned (PLEASE ADD THESE TO YOUR CHARACTER SHEETS):
100 gp each
510 XP each
Party loot (this loot was collected by the party, but it’s up to you to decide how to split it):
1 uncut bloodstone (fist-sized) – worth 50 gp (currently in Raja’s possession)
8 fine pearls – worth 100 gp each (currently hidden in Griffen’s bedroll)
1 live buzzjewel (Jeffery) – may be worth something to the right person (currently in Wick’s mess kit being fed on small hunks of granite)
THIS ADVENTURE IS CONCLUDED BUT PERHAPS ANOTHER LOOMS ON THE HORIZON...
YOU HAVE TIME FOR ANY PERSONAL ERRANDS OR BUSINESS. WHAT DO YOU WISH TO DO NOW THAT YOU HAVE FINISHED YOUR JOB?
Wick does not mind if Raja wishes to keep the blood stone, he does believe we should return the pearl to Raphail but understands the advantage the pearl gives to the team. Wick will explore the village and see if he can glean interest in the Jeffery.
Raja intends to sell the bloodstone and split the proceeds with Wick. It's only fair, since he moved the rocks. He's only giving 20 of the 50, though, because greedy kitty.

Wick [as the only party member proficient in the skill] may attempt a nature check to identify the tracks, if he so chooses.
Nature check: 11
Wick recognizes the tracks as those made by trolls. Trolls and some other creature - something big.
The mine should be just ahead. Does the party wish to take any actions before proceeding to the entrance?
Raja is eager to feel the comfortable weight of coin in his purse once again. He's ready to enter.
Warren is eager to enter the mine and complete the job.
Wick stretches and flexes, he is ready to enter the mine.
Grigor is ready to enter.
Caldath checks his weapons and dons his armor.

"Do you think we can risk torches or other light?" Warren asks.
"I'm useless in a fight if I can't see." Griffen says. "Any of you do that fancy light thing on my shield so I don't have to carry a torch?"
Raja offers to cast light on the shield if the group is in agreement.
Wick nods in agreement at the plan.
Grigor agrees. "Anything we find in there is likely to already have the ability to see in the dark, so it's not like we'd gain much advantage by not having our own light source."
Griffen raps his hand on his shield, "Time for the glow up!"
