((VERY cool, hemolymph! Ok so it was clear goo then. :) )
Ash, your dagger just manages to cut through a few more of them, although enough to significantly reduce their numbers. The remaining little ones kind of scurry away onto the floor and into the cracks, and you can take a breath as there are no more of the critters on your body. You then scoot in behind Ben as described.
Korrik, your staff swats a good number of them away, and you shake your leg and then subsequently stomp on another good number of them. There's about half of them left you guess as they crawl about your body. (-6)
Ess sees Ash back up and notices that she seems to be ok for now after the horrific face biting after Ben's help. He tries not to look at her face and upper body.
"BRO! I GOT YOU! I have this down now. Just hold still... 3... 2... 1..."Ess dashes over to Korrik and brings his sword up once again to try and cut downwards parallel to scrape spiders off Korrik's body.
Attack: 11 Damage: 2
and the sword slams into the floor. He looks wide eyes at Korrik. "Oops."
Next round: Spiders, Busren, Ash, Korrik, Ess
The remaining spiders continue to nip at Korrik: Attack: 8 Damage: 5
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ash is still shaking with fear, and pain, and adrenalin... and whatever someone did to revive her. But she realises she is no longer being eaten alive, and sees Korrik still covered in the vile things...
If there’s space ((I think so, on the map)) she will move round to help clear the spiders off of the halfling (seeing and picking up her other dagger as she goes)...
Attack action: Attack: 16 Damage: 6
Bonus attack: Attack: 18 Damage: 3
She adds 7sneak attack damage to the first one that hits.
The mass of spiders don't seem to like the sound of Ben's voice. They start to crawl off Korrik for this moment. (they take the full 'psychic' damage. LOL)
Ash, you move forward, daggers in hand and they flash in the air as you start to flick and cut through the spiders all over Korrik with surgical precision. You manage to get all of them off the halfling, and Korrik you start stomping on the remaining ones that try to get away like a madman, er madhalfling.
Ess says "damn spiders holy hell!! Dudes, Ash, are you guys all ok? This place seems like nothing but a shitehole. Maybe we take a quick peek in the basement, and if it's equally as dumpy let's just get the hell outta here. What do you guys think, bros? I mean, who even knows who put that damn scroll in that box back in Neverwinter guys?"
Combat is over. The spiders still alive have scattered.
Ben, you tug on the out of place brick, and it comes out, along with maybe 5 or 10 small spiders. Nothing to be concerned with.
The now missing brick reveals a hidden compartment which contains a wooden box. (Assuming you open the box to save time) Inside the box is 30 cp and two small pouches of greyish reddish powder.
Ben, you give a thorough look over in the dining room, and other than the numerous pieces of smashed and ruined furniture, you don't notice anything else of interest in here.
Ash is picking spider parts out of her fur and trying to wipe the gore and blood off as best she can...
As she accepts her cut of the takings, she says “Riches galore!... that’s what they said!....”, with an ironic tone. “There MUST me more than that, somewhere!.... ... Yes, let’s rest up, outside, before we head in any deeper!...”.
As they head outside, something dawns on her... “Did I black out?? Was I... dead?... I was overwhelmed at one point... you? You saved me??...” she looks, accusing, from Ben, to Korrik, to Ess.
Ben and Korrik, you both don't know exactly what is in the pouches, but Korrik given your experience with the old lady from Neverwinter who made potions and both of your general experiences, you both think these pouches contain some type of materials used specifically for alchemy.
"Thanks, bro." he takes the copper. "Yeah dudes, lets get the fork outta here." and Ess would follow you out to the horses, stomping as he leaves kind of annoyed that you haven't found anything good yet.
To Ash"Umm... yeah it was bad. The spiders were on your face. I couldn't cut anymore off... Ben here helped you."
((The horses are still there, totally fine. Is the plan to eat and short rest here?))
"Don't think you were dead, but I was a bit... occupied. Don't think he can fix dead, but Ben's real good at prodding you to keep fighting. I almost got eaten by a basilisk the other day, but he kept telling me to hang in there.... and a few days before that, it was crocodiles... Getting bit by something smaller than me is kind of a nice change of pace."

((I don't think Korrik is familiar enough to know. Probably varies quite a bit. Yes, I'd like to short rest! Waiting until we get the go ahead to push the button.))
"It might be stuff for alchemy, no clue what it might be worth, but if it was super expensive, I wouldn't think it would be stored in a box with a few fistfuls of copper... unless that was to throw people off..."

As they sit down again to rest, Ash says to Ben, “You saved me...”, it’s not a question...
”You saved me!..... You don’t need The Code, or Nula, or anything... I owe you my life!!.......”, she looks a complete wreck... “I almost went in there alone!... It must be fate.....”.
She looks at his demonic horns, “You’re my guardian.. angel !!”.
Ben is enjoying the compliments but coughs on a cracker as Ash calls him an angel. Coughs hard and needs a few minutes and water to be able to breathe properly again.

You sure did make a lot of noise there.
What is next?
Map is updated.
Ben tentatively walks up to the out of place brick, checking frequently to be sure another swarm doesn't come out, and gives it a tug.
"I think we may need to call a lunch break early?"
After, he would also cross over to the dining room to double check Kay's work, even before the spider bites his eyes were nearly swollen shut.
Investigation: 20

"Well. This is thrilling. Congratulations lady and gentlemen. You both almost got sucked dry for this vast sum. Here are your shares."
He gives everyone 7 cp and keeps 9 for himself. He did find the money after all.
Examining the powder for whatever it might be,
"Anyone know what this powder is about?"
Whatever check that applies: 12 + at least 1
"Probably moldy paprika."
"Huzzah. We can retire in luxury now."
Is it moldy paprika? INT + Chef's Utensils: 17
"Could be... Can we... take a break? Check on the horses, have some lunch, wait for this swelling to go down?"

"Sure. I definitely need a break. We're not even going to be able to recoup the cost of the horses."
He stomps a spider on the way out to the yard, going the path they know is safe.
