Favored enemy undead, INT check to recall information about them, this is a ghost?
13
Erven readies his whip, but he also remembers the holy water in a nearby pocket. "Bear, stay back!"
You know this is a specter. In spite of your time spent learning and finding out about undead creatures, you can't recall a huge amount about these things right now - most likely because one just screamed at you and you are possibly responsible for causing it to kill everyone around you! You know they are very dangerous and are incorporeal.
As soon as you saw the specter, Bear had already backed out of the room. No worries. He's gone and probably under the bed again.
You all look around, anxiously watching the walls and expecting Esme to pop out at any second. The sound of silence is deafening.
Sho, you are looking all around and suddenly you feel a chill air seeping on the back of your neck. You slowly turn around and see Esme there. She stretches out a hand towards you. You watch her, intrigued, but unafraid. Being close to death all of your life you see it as more of a process than a final product. Esme's hand pushes through your chest....: Attack: 11Damage:15If a hit, make a CON saving throw (DC10). On a fail, your HP maximum is reduced by the amount of damage taken.
Esme vibrates violently and screams again, angry at the sight of life in front of her. She floats to the ceiling and then disappears north again.
From the signs you can see, hearing Esme’s words, and reading the letters the truth is painfully and frighteningly clear: this is a specter. Wronged in life, this creature has manifested out of a terrible situation and has a burning hatred of life itself. You also know they are hard to kill and very dangerous.
Talion pales visibly at the sight of the creature. His religious education is lacking, but he always paid attention to stories of monsters and creatures touched by other worldly powers. He tries desperately to remember if they have any weaknesses, as his hand starts to glow with arcane energy.
"Push the curtain wide, so i can see it if it reappears!" he says, as he moves to try to get a view of where the creature went and of the alcove.
Readied action: Eldritch Blast for when Esme reappears: Attack: 23 Damage: 10
The piercing chills spread instantly through the limbs, the wailing cries of the apparitions passing through Sho, the accusations of anger, the bleeding despair, the unwillingness to be at peace, the hatred and revenge burning like poisoned flame. The lost years consumed one by one by remorse, regret, imprisoned at the place. Tragic and evanescent youth, but youth nonetheless; love without an ending, but love nonetheless.
Sho watches, almost fascinated by how she resists the onslaught of the emptiness of the dark nights, walling herself off with the hopelessly self-deluded hope of long-lost revenge. The arm of the woman, he imagines once full and smooth, now withered and ugly, reaching into his chest and only narrowly brushing against him. He extends out his own hand, palm radiating warm radiant glow, grabbing her arm just before she retreats again.

Erven shouts out “Maybe we should evacuate to the balcony, up the stairs!” He pulls out the vial of holy water and readies an action, when the specter becomes visible again, he will splash the holy water on it -

Bertolt curses as the ghost like creature flies past, readying his crossbow before deciding that it would be most likely useless. "Come and find your salvation by our hands you twisted wretch!"
Bertolt will invoke the insult but will keep his magic held in check, holding the spell until the creature appears once more. It needs to make a dc 14 wisdom save or take 4 Psychic Damage.
Onyx frowns as the vengeful spirit assails his inquisitive friends. She was a terrible perversion of the person she once was. Even with his new blade, he could hardly stop her from reaching the weaker warriors, given her immaterial form.
. . . Besides. They were interlopers. Intruders. Onyx knew none of them had a right to be there. He waits, and braces himself.
(Onyx takes the Dodge action.)

The spectre slips Sho's grasp as she disappears again with a painful wail, his face pale as usual as he lets she go for the moment, his hand still glowing a warm radiance for preparation when she emerges again. He reaches into the cradle and unwrap the bundled up baby, and peers inside with immense curiosity that is too difficult to contain.

Sho, Erven - you both look into the cradle and you see a baby-sized bundle tossing a bit. It is swaddled up good.
As you both get even closer to the cradle, the face of Esme materializes out of the wooden wall at A4/5. She begins to wail and scream, making this little room a painful echo chamber! As she does, it triggers some actions! Hope I get all of these right.
@Erven (readied turn) The ghost startles you and you try to splash the holy water. But the sound and the cramped quarters make it difficult, and Esme is able to flit away from it.
@Talion (readied turn) Sure. You move up a bit (D2) so you can at least see a bit of Esme, as Onyx and Sho/Erven are in the way. Despite enjoying a lot of cover, the eldritch blast slams into Esme's chest and sends a muffled pulse throughout the room, a deep bass sound - like a bell being struck underwater. As it hits, she looks at you menacingly, "And you, supposed to protect me! And our son!!!"
@Bertolt (readied turn) WIS for Esme: 11
@Sho - you took your reaction this round, so will assume the action above as your normal turn. Esme DEX save: 12
@Onyx - you concentrate fully on defense, wary of the weird floaty ghost.
The sword pulses with intent, however, and you get a feeling moving above you slowly. Your eyes land on Talion. Before it happens, you know Esme is going to pounce on him from above. You strain yourself against the swords impulse to destroy this creature.
Round 2
As Esme is hit by Talion's bolt, the sheer force of it gets her attention. The force damage dispersing her form for a split second (the Dao not doing anything at all). She re-constitutes and her eyes burn with rage, looking your way as she says the above. She streaks straight upwards and through the roof. As you all look around the room and to the roof, you don't hear or see anything. However, Talion, you get a feeling of dread and the Esme materializes above your head (D1) and will attack: Attack:15Damage: 10 If a hit, roll a Con save (DC10). On a fail, your HP maximum is reduced by damage amount.
Erven, Talion, Bert, Sho, Onyx - you can all post your actions now!
Esme hovers near the ceiling at D1 (ceilings are 8 feet high) and you hear her saying to Talion, "Walter? Walter!? How could they? How could they!? How could you!? You said, you said..." She seems a bit mad - angry and delusional - but you have no reason to doubt what she is saying is the truth.
Talion feels the imminence of death as the cold and horror creeps into his bones, but he glances around quickly, perplexed at Onyx' lack of action, but trusting for the first time since his brother left that his companions will try to save him if he falls. Cursing and focusing his malice on the apparition that hovers in the ceiling just out of easy reach, he launches another bolt of arcane energy at the dismal creature.
(( If Esme is in cover, and would need to come out of cover to attack, then count that as a Held action...I am not sure how she is attacking ))
(( and if he is in melee range, then to avoid disadvantage he would use a dagger. Attack roll is 1 point less (14) and damage 6 -- lol well that sucks, max damage vs min damage! +4 necrotic + 2 bludgeon ))
(( And if he knows from the religion roll (18) that the spectre is immune to Necrotic damage, he would hold off on the spell, and just make a second attack: Attack: 12 Damage: 2 ))
Erven, holy water spent and having no magical way to hit this seemingly magical creature, senses that somehow "Walter" is key to her anger and her manifestation, so he reaches forward and unbundles that little bundle of joy/pain to see what he truly is. He holds his shield up afterwards and readies a dagger in the tight quarters, ready to plunge it in if needed. He tries to shield Sho and dodge whatever emerges from the crib.
