Aranyha is from a long line of Arau who have spent their lives fighting Drow and Drider hordes in the underdark during the Drow Wars; Arayha was a bit diffrent in that her family recognized her talent for 'gadgets', particularly the sort that go bang. Knowing as they did a life long involvement in war they decided she should 'take to the upper world'. Little did anybody know that would be the air! Little did anyone realize that Aranyha was nudged in the direction of 'gadgets' by her Other Worldly Power; a non-corporeal entity who called themselves 'JamesWatt', or something that sounded like that. This entity was extremely interested in steam power and its potential application in a variety of things and offered Aranya special abilities if she would allow it to investigate using her as a vehicle, the caveat was that she could tell no one about her benefactor.
Being as small as she was, Aranyha liked the idea of hitting enemies before they got into melee range; ergo, she was keen to develop things that would stop any sort of assault waaaay over thatta way, and the further away the better. She has spent a lot of time with compressed webs - think Tangler Grenade, small 'bomblets' (that was what 'JamesWatt' called them) using a mixture of sulpher, nitre, charcoal and a spring powered flint scratcher; all delivered with a sling; at least for the moment. She wanted to adapt the concept to use steam as a propelling force, though there was no way for an individual to carry such an instrument of destruction, an airship could. One device she thought of was a steam powered arrow engine, able to launch arrows and canisters filled with chains, 'bomblets' or coils of razor wire, among other things for quite a distance; at least theoretically. Magical payloads were also very much on her mind, she did begin her adult life as a Warlock after all.
Which brings us to her 'destiny': To become a world renown master weapons engineer (a word she learned from 'JamesWatt), designing weapons and testing them in the only arena that counts - combat. Thus she has embarked on the path of a combat engineer which, kinda sorta, fit in with being a Warlock. She recently awoke from a rather vivid dream, of which she remembers very little, and found that in her bedside notebook was inscribed the words 'chemical weapons'. An enigma that she is becoming obsessed with.
I am working on her character sheet, but that is a bit tricky. What kind of saves do Arau inherently have? Do they have any particular skills? As she has six legs I set her movement to 35 but think it might be a bit more.

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
I'm not clear how you are going to define this character in terms of game rules. What pact would this be?
Arau use the mechanics described for them in the link above (repeated here). They are usually small creatures, so their speed is 25. I'm not sure what you mean about saves. They don't have traits that change their saves outside of normal mechanics.
Everyone> As to the destiny, I feel like I need to ask if the description of how destiny works is unclear, because I keep needing to reiterate this point: You level by achieving your destiny and your agenda, so you don't want to take something grandiose and long term. As it says in the doc, identify a first step on that path, then take that as a destiny or agenda.
Everyone> Part of the point of running this playtest is to see if I need to reword things for clarity, so please tell me if anything isn't clear.
Going from historical precedent, pirateships are actually fairly egalitarian. Captains are usually voted on, and know they face mutiny if they loose favor. Other positions on a ship include helmsman (pilot), cook, surgeon/doc, shipwright/carpenter, and hands, which are your general crew.
GoodBovine> If no one else chooses a position, what's you're first pick?

I was thinking of making a Naga/Yuan ti abomination type character and figured that Kragmor probably fit the best for their origin. Are they with or against the Iron Empire?
BTW. Kragmor is part of Can Tinodeus, but their is a small nation of Yuan ti hidden from most of the world in the ruins of a giant's city, now known informally as Monster City. They are within the territory claimed by the Empire, but as their existence isn't public, they haven't sworn allegiance.
My apologies for not getting back to more of you faster, I will try to do so throughout today. Nekraen, I've found your sheet now, so you're one of those I need to get back to.
Thanks! Where's the thread for the paladin's Scurvy?

I am just waiting to see everyones position on the ship before I make my Agenda destiny as I have two different ideas depending on Lila's rank.

Mine is captain/pilot if no one else wants either

I was thinkng Ssehei would either be helmsman/navigator or some other leadership position since she has experience on ships like these.
Prometheus can take both ship's cook and [generic heavy lifting job], since he has cook's utensils proficiency, and a ridiculously large carry weight.

Lila would WANT the role of captain but I think it might be fun to start somewhere lower...

Would you rather I make an NPC captain with a sword of damaclese over their head?
I prefer a PC captain, personally. I think out of the three who have expressed interest in the position, Ssehei has my vote.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
thats ok! Lila can easily take another position!

The helmsman and the captain aren't necessarily the same thing, fyi. You can have both on a ship.
BTW, I haven't seen sheets from most people so far. I'm hoping to start Monday.
Likewise, since there have been no other suggestions, it's the Paladin's Scurvy.

I sent my sheet to you the other day. Should I send it again?
Also good to know about monster city. Maybe she was originally found near there?
Sure.
Oddly I'm not seeing it.

I'd like everyone to make their first post by tomorrow night.
