I agree, I just think it is a little awkward. Flying around naked without any gear doesn't seem like a good idea for an adventurer, but I guess it could come in handy at some point right?
Doing that could easily kill you - the ability doesn't come with support powers for being naked, unless I'm missing something. You can die of exposure to heat or cold normally, you still need to breathe, etc. And you're not even a little invisible.
But if you concentration breaks on the field, you snap back to your body - moving your gear around seems... iffy.
I'm struggling to see a use-case for this, to be honest. Reduced benefits in exchange for at least only having one body to worry about would be a lot better.
I have to correct you a bit here. When using Spirit Projection you're a 14th level Warlock which inlcudes all the classes features before that. Meaning:
You gain the effects of Necrotic Husk, Grave Touched and Form of Dread (because you can use Form of Dread before or while using Spirit Projection) which includes:
temporary hit points equal to 1d10 + your warlock level
Once each of your turns on hitting a creature with an attack you can force a WIS save upon it and if it fails the target is frightened of you until the end of your next turn
You are immune to the frightened condition
you don't need to eat, drink or breathe
once each turn when hitting with an attack you can replace the entire damage with necrotic damage (note *)
you have resistance to necrotic damage or immunity if you are in your Form of Dread
once per 1d4 long rests when reduced to 0 HP as a reaction you can instead choose to drop to 1 HP and deal 2d10+warlock level necrotic damage to all creatures within 30ft
each your body and spirit gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage (note that this isn't broken by magic weapons)
once per turn when you deal necrotic damage you heal half the amount dealt (*; note that both your spirit and body share their HP losses and gains)
note that furthermore your body is in suspended animation which means it literally cannot die other than being subjected to direct damage like from harmful spells, attacks or the like which in turn means you could dumb is somewhere noone alive can go without the help of magic
what you also can do since your spirit and you are now two separate entities is things like casting Sanctuary on it while still being able to cast harmful spells on the enemy or attacking them in any other way(this is only one way of protecting it; believe me I came up with measures that made my DM wonder if they would ever be able to kill me again)
Yes your concentration can be broken, but you technically can get CON proficiency in several ways plus the Warlock specifically has access to advantage on concentration saves with Eldritch Mind. All that against a DC that probably will never exceed the minimum of 10 because your resistance will cut direct weapon attacks in half. Also since your body is unconscies it drops prone, so ranged attacks will have disadvantage against it. The only thing you have to worry about for your unconscious body is STR/DEX saves as they automatically fail. And well... weapon attack hits on your body from within 5ft as they will automatically crit. But frankly if you let anyone come close enough to your body so they can do that you deserve to die due to your own idiocy. ^^ Also starting at level 9 you could cast Antilife Shell on your body to prevent living creatures from coming that close. Just cast it before using Spirit Projection. Since your spirit is a different entity your DM should technically allow your spell to stay with your body. All you have to do is maintain concentration but then so you are limited with your other spells for the duration. All this considered I think it's only "balanced" to not also give your spirit the effects of all your equipment. Having a fully capable spirit version of yourself that can do all this... seems truly op to me. Keeping hold of your weapon seems easy enough or basically anything you held in hand at the time of projecting. I as DM would rule that your spirit can just do that as your body slips into unconsciousness it cannot "contest" this transfer.
I agree with all of this, but I have to point out that you can't have Antilife Shell up and Spirit Projection at that same time. They are both Concentration.

Oh true; well have someone else cast it for you then and stand ontop of your body. Party can try to be useful for a change. ;D
Btw... nowhere does it say that your body and spirit have to reside on the same plane of existence...
