I am not sure about this and maybe you could give your opinion.
I have a yuan-ti PC who is immune to poison and the poisoned condition. Fighting a ghoul, whose claw attacks can cause paralysis. Would the yuan-ti be immune to this? Or would paralysis be possible?
My gut says paralysis is different than poison and that the PC could be paralyzed.
Each condition is separate. Paralysis and Poisoned are two different conditions. There may be situations where the effect description says “the target is poisoned, and while it is poisoned it is also paralyzed”... but otherwise, it is very plainly described.

If it's specifically a poison that is causing paralysis, then obviously that poison would have no effect on the character, but the ghoul doesn't mention its effect being poison, so it's not.

The PC is wrong.
The PC hasn't argued, to be fair, I am just confirming that my eggs are in the right basket.

They are. Generally the rules do not do more than they explicitly say (there are very rare exceptions due to vague "common language" rules, this is not one of those).

The problem with context sometimes - I definitely didn’t mean it to be as harsh as it sounds. 🙂 Nothing wrong with arguing the rules if they are confusing and asking on here will likely give you at least a look at all sides of the argument. Happy gaming!
