I was wondering how the Automatic Pistol is aquired for a character, since it doesn't have a GP price listed. Also, where can I find information about it? (I tried looking in the Player's Handbook, but couldn't find anything in there about Firearms)

If your DM defends the DM vs Players mindset get outta there fast. My advice as someone with a bad history with this game o7 it gets better.
I love 5e monster & planar lore almost as much as I love complaining about it
Guns are very optional, so there’s not much for them. Basically, if your DM allows them, the price is what the DM wants it to be. There are some details in the gunslinger subclass here, but that is basically Matt Mercer’s homebrew: It is not WotC official, and is going to be a DM call if they allow it or not.
Firearms are optional equipment from the DMG. They only exist if the DM allows them (moreso than usual), and cost as much as the DM wants them to. They are unavailable by default in the forgotten realms setting (basically the only ones that might exist are from different realms with nearly no ammo).

not really by 'default' imo, just very rare and not in most books. you can get a gunslinger pistol in WDDH. Frostmaiden has laser pistols. Giffs in Mordenkeinen's has pistols.
In our campaign, anyone that's a member of Bregan D'aerthe can acquire one.
i haven't seen automatic firearms ever in DD and find it harder to imagine than laser pistols (sure, stick a magic gem in a wooden stick and pewpew, you have a laser pistol), but automatic weapons with one-piece bullets seems a big stretch o' the imagination.

So weird. It looks like I ninja’d djc, but I have a later time stamp.

for what its worth, this pub also talks about firearms and gives like 20 different types of bullets, some pretty fun. https://www.dmsguild.com/product/350641/Three-Factions-of-Waterdeep-Bregan-Daerthe-Gray-Hands-and-Xanathar-Guild
