So im playing a ranger and a party member is a wizard. We were wondering if before we take a long rest we each cast Mage Armour (for the wizard) and Dark Vision (myself the ranger) before we slept do we still get the benefits when its our turn to take watch? I know both spells last 8 hours and have no concentration so it makes sense to me it could last that long.
Figured it would be a good way to be prepared incase something happens while we sleep and the spell slots reset after a long rest if we are not interupted.
Yes, they last the full 8 hours. That's a reasonable use of spell slots at the end of the adventuring day, so long as you're sure you won't need to use those slots if something unexpected happened during the long rest... But note that a short combat encounter during the long rest won't interrupt it, unless you take some major course of action afterwards instead of returning to the rest.
(And of course, your Ranger would need to not be wearing armor when Mage Armor is cast on them.)
Thank you for the info. Also the Mage Armour isnt for my ranger, its for the wizard but ya havibg dark vision on in case troubke shows up is gonna be useful because it saves a turn to activate it and i (as a plain human) can be prepared to fire my arrows a good 60 feet out with little issue
