I was flipping through the dungeon master's guide and in the part about the plane mechanics and it says any visitor who isn't lawful neutral that spends a day there must make a wisdom saving throw dc 10 and if they fail their alignment is changed to lawful neutral until they spend a day on a different plane. if a devil was there how would that work? I mean technically that means if a monster hoard went through there it's possible to have not evil monsters. what do you think?
Well, the devil would switch from LE to LN. And then when it left, it would switch right back. Just because they’re not evil doesn’t mean they won’t still obey their orders and keep on marching. Now a pack of demons who suddenly became lawful could be weird.

On a failed save, the creature's alignment changes to lawful neutral. this wether is a devil, demon or other creature type. The creature's alignment reverts to normal after one day spent on a plane other than Mechanus. Casting the dispel evil and good spell on the creature also restores its original alignment.
OPTIONAL RULE: IMPOSING ORDER At the end of each long rest taken on this plane, a visitor that isn't lawful neutral must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw. The Overhelming Joy Optional rule never change a character's alignment, on a failed save, the creature is unwilling to leave the plane before taking another long rest. After three failed saving throws, the creature never willingly leaves the plane and, if forcibly removed, does everything in its power to return to the plane. A dispel evil and good spell removes this effect from the creature, this whatever the type of creature (devil, demon, fey etc)
OPTIONAL RULE: OVERWHELMING JOY Visitors spending any time on this plane risk becoming trapped by overwhelming sensations of contentment and happiness. At the end of each long rest taken on this plane, a visitor must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is unwilling to leave the plane before taking another long rest. After three failed saving throws, the creature never willingly leaves the plane and, if forcibly removed, does everything in its power to return to the plane. I believe the OP was referring to the mechanus specific option:

There's no mention of any particular type of creature being immune to the effect, so I see no reason to think a devil wouldn't be affected.
