If a target is affected by Hex, which deals 1d6 Necrotic on each attack, does Magic Missile trigger 3d6 at 1st Lvl when the target is hit by the 3 magic missiles, leading to 3d4+3 + 3d6?
Hex doesn't work on magic missile. This is because magic missile doesn't include any attacks, but instead just deals damage. It's only an attack if it includes an attack roll.
However, hex does work on Jim's magic missile, which actually includes attacks. You wouldn't believe the damage I've dealt stacking bugbear's Surprise Attack and sometimes spirit shroud onto that spell. 6d4 + 6d6 at the cost of a 1st level spell slot isn't too bad. It was a campaign specifically for optimizing, don't worry.

If the wording of Hex states attack, no; magic missile is not an attack, the damage just happens unless blocked by Shield or other method.
I can’t remember what’s supposed to go here.
Thank you. I was wondering about that. It does say "Attack" on Hex, so it figured Magic Missile wouldn't compound it.
