I have a player who's playing a Grave Cleric. She has Circle of Mortality:
Circle of Mortality: At 1st level, you gain the ability to manipulate the line between life and death. When you would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell to a creature at 0 hit points, you instead use the highest number possible for each die.
She used the Life Transference spell to bring the Barbarian back from unconsciousness. She was wondering how this spell and feature interact. I wasn't sure, so I said I would look into it. Does Circle of Mortality make Life Transference do the maximum (including the damage?)

Any ideas?
Interesting question. I'd probably rule Circle of Mortality wouldn't work with that spell, since you're rolling the dice to do necrotic damage to yourself and not to heal

Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
RAW Life Transference shouldn't trigger Circle of Mortality because it doesn't roll dice to restore hit points but to deal necrotic damage and one creature regains a number of hit points equal to twice the necrotic damage taken.

Thank you for the insight into this.
