I don't know if this has been answered, but I'm still going to ask:
If someone takes the Magic Initiate Feat, and takes Identify as the 1st Level Spell, can they use it as a Ritual Spell if their class feature is Ritual Casting, so that they don't use the spell slot for the day? For example: if a Cleric or Druid takes Magic Initiate (Wizard) with Identify as the 1st Level Spell.
The Ritual Casting feature says (for example, for the Druid) 'you can cast a druid spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell prepared.'
The spell from Magic Initiate feat (Wizard) does not count as a druid spell.
So lot's of things come into play here... Magic Initiate spells can only be used as a "Spell Known" if they are from the caster list your character can otherwise cast. If that is the case, you have one daily cast, and then you can use it for other slots or ritual features. So if you were a cleric and took Magic Initiate - Cleric that works. But if you took Magic Initiate - Druid, it doesn't even if it is the "same" spell with the same caster statistics. That is from a Sage Advice on the topic. So taking Magic Initiate - Wizard to get it, would not really work well. Unless you actually took one level of Wizard at which point, why the feat?
However... What you could actually do is take the Ritual Caster - Wizard feat to pick say Identify and Detect Magic as your two first level spells. You could only cast them as a ritual and you lose the two cantrips so that is a trade off to being able to potentially add as many Wizard ritual spells as you can get your hands on. You could combine MI-W and RC-W and know two cantrips, 1 first level spell (which could have ritual tag), and 2 first level rituals. But that is a bit expensive from a feat perspective.
Lastly, I believe Forge and Knowledge Domain clerics actually have Identify as a domain spell always readied and easily cast as a ritual...

But ask your DM. Personally I would allow it.
