I have a fairy character I've just started playing (1 session so far) and I'm not sure how grappling would work for them.
My plan was for them to grapple creatures, fly up in the air at 1/2 movement and then drop them. Rinse and repeat. But now that we've started play I'm not sure that will actually work - a small character can grapple a medium one, and RAW I think they can carry them, but they can't even lift the weight of light armor before they can't fly anymore so I'm not sure this will actually work.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can explain it to me.

Rules do only what they say. Since by RAW, it says nothing about carrying another creature — just the armor restrictions — you are permitted to carry another creature as normal. Size and strength restrictions would still apply, so if the enemy is too heavy for your strength, you couldn’t lift them.
In general, the strategy isn’t great. If you lift them at half speed, you’re looking at a 15’ drop, so 1d6 damage. The same as just hitting them with a simple weapon. So, an action and half your move to do what your action could have done. I guess they’d land prone, so that’s nice for melee allies, but bad for ranged allies.
Now thorn whip or lightning lure, where you do cantrip damage and tack on a little fall damage can be a bit more useful. Or if you can grapple them and fly over a cliff to drop them from a height, they could also be useful.
