I was more hopeful that the rules included in the 2024 DM's guide would be more verbose when it comes to creating magic items. What specific features can be created? how much each plus costs?
I'd like to create bracers that increase a druids armor while shape changed, +1, +2, +3.
How would you all go about creating that? is it just Armor +1 that functions while in Wild Shape? I can see arguments for it being more or less expense that just standard +1 armor. (against) It only works in specific conditions, (for) it enhances a key aspect of a Moon Druid.
Ok in 3.x the max was a +5 with 3 or 4 additional abilities so up to 8 or 9 pluses and abilities for artifacts. That was getting ridiculous. 5e cut. Everything down. I haven’t really looked closely in several years but I think the most I’ve seen is +3 with one or two extra abilities. So a maximum of 5 pluses or abilities for an artifact. You want armor for a Druid that retains its function in wildshape. Since it’s a Druid and metal armour is ( more or less) forbidden for them that leaves you with a choice of padded, leather, studded leather or possibly scale ( could be bone, ironwood, etc scales). As a DM I would judge that retaining effectiveness in wild shape is a +2 property the ultimate ( maybe) would be some form of dragonscale mail. However, it has a +1 and 4 special properties. Adding your property would give it 7 + equivalents so it’s a no go. +3 armor with this ability would be a +5 equivalent and so really only available in tier 4. +2 armour has 4 equivalents while +1 armour has 3 so they would both typically be found only in tiers 3 and 4. Regular armor with this ability (no pluses to AC) would still be a +2 equivalent and so might be found in the upper part of tier 2 or lower tier 3. This assumes that part of the magic of the suit is that it magically resizes and transforms to suit the size and body of the wildshape. (essentially everything from an arachnid with 8 legs to a bird with wings to a bear).. That would still give most creatures a bit of improvement in AC But many, spiders, raptors, etc already have ACs of 12-14 so I’m not really sure it’s worth it for anything except a really high level campaign. If your a circle of the moon Druid then this armor is actually a waste as your circle abilities provide your wildshapes with better AC than this ever could.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I don't really understand the questions. Are you asking as a player or DM?
