It should be noted that the 2024 version of the Paladin class (and subclasses) explicitly has the other, higher-level aura features described as essentially augmentations to the Aura of Protection effect, rather than separate stacking auras. So under 2024 rules it's no longer even a question.
Auras are basically always on features. All of your Auras will be active your Aura of Protection is active. All other auras depend on your Aura of Protection. If there are two Paladins are within range of the same creature, that creature decides which Aura of Protection it is benefitting from.

Very true, but thinking back on the question, maybe it was referring to the 2014 rules?

Yeah, better rules now IMO.
Adding the line "If another Paladin is present, a creature can benefit from only one Aura of Protection at a time; the creature chooses which aura while in them." helps to avoid doubts that came up using the 2014 rules.

I assume that it also means that you can only benefit from the upgrades of one Paladin. So, if you have a Paladins of Ancients, Devotion, and Vengeance close by, you have to pick whether you get the immunity to Charm (Devotion) or the Resistance to Necrotic, Psychic, and Radiant damage (Ancients) but it also means that enemies could chose the least disadvantageous Aura when the endcap gives Radiant damage (Devotion), Disadvantage on attacks (Ancients), or save versus Frightened (Vengeance).
Can a paladin have there aura of protection and another aura active and where is it written if you can't?
Level 6: Aura of Protection and Level 10: Aura of Courage, for example, should stack.
