I am a DM who is designing the manor of a highly paranoid and magically adept nobleman. I want his home to be under permanent nondetection, but that violates both the duration and the area of the spell.
I could say he has a special magic item, but I think it would be more interesting if it were a trapped/contracted creature of some sort. Does anyone know if there are any creatures/monsters with the ability to cast non detection or similar spells? Or a way to search for that?
I'm also open to other suggestions for how the manor is protected!
I don't think there's any RAW to have a permanent or semi-permanent Nondetection. That being said, as the DM, you can say he either has a magical ward on his house (that he paid a lot of money and time for) which gives it permanent Nondetection, or you can just say there's an item in his house that does it, because as DM you can bring a homebrew time to life very easily.
Just be prepared to explain why it might not work for the PCs, if you do homebrew an item.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
