hello i was working one a homebrew campaign the plays heavy one the fear condition and a mechanic around fear. so my questions to all of you is what gives players fear resistance. because i know the basics such as some spells. species/races or a barbarian but in case they don't have of the mentioned. what kind of feats or magic items would give players fear resistance but not immunity?
(fear resistance as in resistance against the frightened condition)
Typically, when we discuss resistance and immunity, we are referring to modifications to the damage they inflict. In this case, fear is a condition--the frightened condition, and you either have it or you don't.
well the system is a replacement for hp. so the creature would deal dread damage instead of what type of damage it would normal do to. so players with multiply resistances to the frightened condition would live longer. thanks the imput. i mean advantage on wisdom save could also work since it typical is a wisdom save to not get frightened. but like is said thanks.

Level 10 paladin, and all allies within 10 feet are immune to the frightened condition. Twilight clerics can remove frightened condition in a 30’ radius. Pretty sure there’s other, similar class powers, also spells like calm emotions.
From what you’re describing, I’d use psychic damage instead. There’s already mechanics for that and you avoid confusing edge cases.
