I was just wondering if ya'll have any ideas for some traps or puzzles for a dungeon in my campaign. It is going to lead up to a boss battle so i don't want it to like kill a player or something but I'm open for anything. It is a coal cave. Many miners have dissapeared because of a necromancer who has revived a dragon into a dragonbone golem. He is trying to complete a ritual where he can summon the god of death to destroy the land. That's pretty much it.
Designing traps & puzzles go well when you are working on a specific locale for the challenge. What can you tell us about the dungeon? Who made it? Why? Who's there now? Why? What major campaign theme(s) are you flavoring it with?
Getting specific allows everyone to suggest with better context.
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything has a nice section (Dungeon Master's Tools chapter, p. 171) that describes and provides puzzle ideas. If you or your friends have access to it, it could be a good source of Heroic Inspiration.
