I think that it is OP. Dexterity is the strongest stat in the game, and is very strong for Monks. If you want a Monk who grapples, build into strength.

Basically this.
I don't agree that dexterity is the strongest ability (it certainly isn't the weakest), but if you start letting it do what strength does, and it will get OP fast.
Suddenly, you will have a character with a +7 to hit, +5 damage, a +7 to grapple checks, ~18 AC, and 40 feet of movement. And it will only get worse.

Ooh... "p" is next to "o", "e" is next to "r"... duh, makes sense, haha!
Yeah, I agree. DEX is already pretty strong, and monks are already pretty strong, and they naturally invest heavily into DEX, and derive much (most?) of their power from it. It'd probably be fine if you homebrew it as an alternative to martial arts (no more unarmed damage / monk weapon increasing dice, but use DEX for unarmed strike and monk weapon to-hit/dmg bonus, and grapple checks), maybe?
Sorry, I was typing it fast on my phone and didn't notice my spelling mistake. "Dex for grapple". Now I think about it, as you guys said, it's seems bit op. I was thinking it makes more sense themetatically(?). I mean usually using the enemies strength against them seems more dex based imo. But I can be wrong. Thanks for the replies.

What makes sense thematically isn't necessarily the best for the game. There's balance to consider, too. Thematically, Wizards are incredibly more powerful than everybody else. Single Wizards are often the lone bad guys against entire armies of good guys. ;-)
You don't get to choose which stat you get to use when grappling, since it's up to the defender to cho choose whether to use athletics or acrobatics to escape. That said, if your super-dexy monk tries to grapple someone and that person chooses to try and escape that grapple through acrobatics, then yes, they'll likely not stand a chance.

It was more like, monks are experts a using the power of physical body to deal their damage (not all i know) so why not have them use grapple as dex since 1- it's their main stat and 2- because monks have martial arts so it makes sense as they learn techniques to grapple. But as the folks above said, it's overpowered, true might fit thematically but unhealthy for the game.

As the title says, what do you think?

What is a "dex fpe grapple"? o_O
I think the title needs spell check.
I think they mean 'Dex for grapple'.
