"Lance. You have disadvantage when you use a lance to attack a target within 5 feet of you. Also, a lance requires two hands to wield when you aren't mounted." They don't say it's a Reach weapon, and it is kind of hard to use two of them, but I'm sure a clever player will find a way.
So it is. I do always manage to miss something. More power to the Bugbears, who, near as I can tell, still can only use one of them, but I'm sure there are ways around it.
To the op (I realize this is an old thread, but it is a fun concept) go paladin and get greater find steed, then dual lance from your Pegasus, flying safely 10 feet above your enemies. Or go bard and get greater find steed, and do it all while singing a little song.
Another fun thing about dual wielded lances is that they don't have the "heavy" property. That means you can play a Gnome Battlesmith Artificer that has a str of 8, riding on his Steel defender that can use his reaction as needed, while dual wielding two lances infused with his infusions.
On the other hand I would agree, that it sounds super dumb and shouldn't fly in any real campaign. Maybe in a not so serious Oneshot.
The Lance's properties are Reach, special

I know this is a little lat but caveliers get no bonuses what so ever to their mount
