If you cast a concentration spell from most magic items, you still must concentrate.
Sure, but there are plenty of magic items that'll grant the equivalent of a spell effect without casting it. E.g. Wings of Flying or Winged Boots give you flight without involving the Fly spell, Boots of Striding and Springing basically gives you Jump. Several potions duplicate spell effects without concentration too (e.g. Potion of Speed).
I (and others, of course) did a home brew feat to let you concentrate on two spells at once. Was not very happy with it. So I wrote a sub-class. Worked out better.

better chances to spoil spells. Not sure about how to proceed. Maybe concentration slots based on spellcaster level.
