Using the Ready action to move or Use an Item as a reaction to pick-up a dropped weapon is not economic action wise, but if the weapon is magical it might be worthed for exemple.
Another thing to consider is if the free item interaction is even possible outside your turn since it's listed as other activities you can do on your turn;
Other Activities On Your Turn: You can also interact with one object or feature of the environment for free, during either your move or your action.
It is quite possible that you might need to ready the [Tooltip Not Found] action in order to pick up a dropped item outside your turn. I did misread the way you wrote this at first, but now I'm inclined to agree.
... that's absolutely true. To interact with an object outsude your turn you'd need to Ready an action to do so.
... thus, if enemies start doing that, wasting their whole turn to pickup some random shortsword, it'd make MORE, not less, sense to use this tactic. Because not only are you getting the benefits of the juggle, but enemies would be essentially CCing themselves.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
Another thing to consider is that the rules are silent if dropping an held item count as a free item interaction or if it can be done freely like a grapple release.
I know a Dev once said he let it for free, but it's not a rule per say.
It doesn't need to be a rule. You're not interacting with an item when you let go of it. You're very literally doing the opposite. You're not interacting with it. It also isn't an action to be standing in the same room as an item. And you don't need to take a item interaction to continue wearing clothes. None of these things are interactions listed or even implied in the Actions descriptions in the PHB.
