on a critical hit, you double the dice damage. what do you do for an unarmed strike since it uses 1+str instead of damage dice? double the damage or just not crit on a punch?
While I like the way a crit doubles damage dice to provide variable crit damage ranges, I think they should have added in the damage bonuses again too.
In that case you could have done a crit unarmed strike that mattered.
I mean, there’s only 1 damage at stake, so houseruling around the clear direction to only double dice seems like more hassle than its worth. Nobody is going to be going home angry that the DM only let their crit punch do its normal 1 damage instead of 2. :D

Depends on if that 1 hp matters. I've had an enemy escape with 1 hp before, then realized the next day that I could've done 1d6 more damage.

There’s no dice to double, so maybe nothing.
Though I could see a good argument for doubling the 1 (to 2) + str
No dice = no extra damage.
Basically, unarmed attacks can not do crit damage, unless you are a monk.

If I were a DM I'd probably be nice and treat the "1" as a "1d1" and give them 2+mod on a crit. It'd be a shame to have a critical hit go to waste :)

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.
