I mean, it's not unearthed arcana, so I don't see why this thread should go there.
Thread categorization aside: OP, I can think of only two possibilities. The first is that what you're thinking of is someone's homebrew, in which case I'm afraid I can't help you. The other possibility, is that you might be actually thinking of the Arcane Archer subclass for Fighters, which someone else adapted or reflavored as being an arcane gunslinger; if that's the case, the book you're looking for is Xanathar's Guide to Everything. Technically speaking, it doesn't work with firearms, but if your DM is willing to handwave that restriction it wouldn't break anything either.
Hopefully, this might point you in the right direction.
Even though the regular Gunslinger isn't an official subclass, there are Drow Gunslingers in Waterdeep Dragonheist. Since Drow have innate magic I could see someone making the inference that they are arcane gunslingers. But no, while I'm sure there's homebrew, there isn't an arcane gunslinger.
Asking "is this a thing?" seems completely appropriate for Stories and Lore, IMHO.
Depending on what level you're starting at, you might be able to create this build with certain feats and race combos (like Magic Initiate, Svirfneblin Magic, etc). Or, you could multiclass. I have a gunslinger in my campaign and he's dipping into Soulknife Rogue for a little bit of psionic flair and versatility.
I recommend talking to your DM about what they're comfortable with and how they can help you achieve the character concept you're going for. Perhaps you can reskin a bladesinger wizard or arcane archer to suit your needs. Good luck!
I am trying to figure out where it comes from, is it unearthed arcana, or from some sourcebook?
I am trying to figure it out because my dm only allows certain sourcebooks, no unearthed arcana.
Help would be appreciated.
