So I've had an Idea for my PC's backstory and possible BBEG specific to them. Please note that i am not as familiar with the RAW material, so some of this would be to the DM's discretion. like how many clones I am allowed to use. I am mainly looking for Critique/Opinions.
Session 0
My character became a necromancer and defeated another necromancer. They trapped the necromancer's soul in an amulet and lived out their life as normal. They ended up becoming a powerful high level magic user, but age was catching up to them. They ended up learning and used the CLONE spell, but was hesitant to just off themselves there and then. So they left the clone alone and locked it away for the time being.
Later down the line, my PC would be killed from some random event and as expected, would revive in the younger clone body. They excitingly would begin using the clone spell a lot more and ended up with clones all over the map. As years passed, something began to feel strange, my PC was getting weaker in levels and didn't have an explanation why. They later discovered that locations that my PC had been revived using a clone, were being destroyed. Including all the clones there.
Concept
My idea was that the soul of the trapped necromancer was freed from their confinement after my PC was killed for the first time. Possessed the body of the first person it found and looked for a gullible magic user to not only revive them, but hunt down my PC. They ended up finding one of my dead clone bodies and transfered their soul into it, after making a contract with a devil.
This act now gives them access to MY clones if they are killed, but also have a sort of psychic link to know if I am killed and where I'm revived. Using my PC's connection to my clones' bodies, everytime I died, they would absorb small parts of my power, until I had shrivelled back down to level 3. At that point, they wouldn't care about taking anything else unless i became stronger or learned new abilities that they haven't absorbed yet.
Other things that could happen would be NPCs recognizing me as the BBEG, if the BBEG were trying to get other random NPCs to go after me by doing bad stuff in my name. So using a disguise would probably be essential when in populated areas.
