He can also speak, read and write Common, Giant and Orc. Lugi had enough interactions with Mountain Orcs and Stone Giants growing up that he learned their languages and adopted the Giants God as his own.
Lugi is an Outlander with all the related traits and can speak, read and write Giant and Orc. Lugi had enough contact with Moutain Orcs and Stone Giants growing up that he learned their languages and adopted the giant's God as his own.
Appearance
Lugi has a large, powerful, and masculine build covered from head to toe in tribal markings that have been etched into his skin and then tattooed over to create inky black valleys which cover his grey hairless body. Compared to humans, Lugi is enormous, standing 7 feet tall and weighing 300 lbs of solid muscle. Compared to other Goliath, however, and more specifically his brothers and father, Lugi is nothing but a runt.
Backstory
Lugi grew up in a high mountain home where he was the smallest and weakest of five brothers, so when he was 16, his family abandoned him. He wandered around for a few years doing odd jobs for people to survive and eventually took up adventuring so that he could prove his strength and skill against dangerous beasties. He misses his family and believes that if he can prove himself by fighting and defeating dangerous creatures and making a name for himself, his family will take him back.
Personality Traits
I place no stock in wealthy or well-mannered folk. Money and manners won’t save you from a hungry owlbear.
Ideals
1. It is each person’s responsibility to make the most happiness for the whole tribe.
2. If I dishonor myself, I dishonor my whole clan.
Bonds
My family, clan, or tribe is the most important thing in my life, even when they are far from me.
Flaws
Don’t expect me to save those who can’t save themselves. It is nature’s way that the strong thrive and the weak perish.
Allies.
At the start of the game, Lugi has a single ally.
Selina Belnirith - Tielfing thief who travelled with Lugi for a time. The two became close, and although they ultimately separated, they stayed friends and occasionally wrote to each other. Selina settled into life in Baldurs Gate, where she gave birth to a daughter.
Enemies
Lugi has a single enemy (more frenemy)
Gunther Ironfist - (father) was responsible for his family's decision to abandon him. Lugi feels antagonistic towards his father and wants to prove him wrong.

So, what do you guys and gals think? Does Lugi seem like he might be an interesting character who is easy and fun to play? What changeswould you make to him in order to make him better?
It might not be a bad idea to pick up proficiency in stealth; otherwise I’d say everything looks great.
Do you know which subclass you’d like to play? I’d recommend Zealot or Totem Warrior.
I was thinking Totem Warrior with the Bear Totem once I get to that level. He has a hang up about being weak etc., since that’s why he was abandoned, so I think he would be very drawn to the strength of the bear and that connecting with that totem would come very natural to him.
I am also in two minds about the Wolf Totem.
Initially I thought he would be a Wolf Totem Barb who finds his strength through protecting and defending his allies and becomes strong in that regards.
The problem is, he would still be relying on others. He wouldn't be strong on his own.
Though I am leaning towards the Bear Totem, I have the Wolf Totem niggling away in the back of my mind.
"Don’t expect me to save those who can’t save themselves. It is nature’s way that the strong thrive and the weak perish." Doesn't sound like a good person.

What would you say they were then?
I am not being snooty I am honestly interested in what you think they would be and why.

I only save those worthy of intervention. There is no place for evil.

I didn't imagine him as being the crusader type, though. Maybe I might have to rethink my ideas of him.

Not caring for and actively ignoring the pleas of the weak and innocent who can't defend themselves is usually evil or at least neutral territory. I think this is fairly well established. Fascism is basically an ideology built around the creed that only the strong survive and the people who can't defend themselves deserve to die.

I’ve made a copy of the character and changed his personality traits and flaw.
Personality Traits
I am driven my a desire to prove myself that has taken me far from home.
Flaw
I see evil and injustice everywhere, it must be rooted out.
Does that sound better thank what I had before?

I think the flaw sounds more like a character’s ideal
Think of a flaw being a recognizable way for the DM to mess with your character.
Scared of snakes, if he’s told to go right, they go left, if everyone knows something they don’t know…. they’ll pretend they do know, the smell of faeries makes them sneeze uncontrollably, whenever they eat a pastry they exclaim MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!.

Stuff like that.
How about something slightly comical then for his flaw. Something like:
”I can’t resist a cute kitty and must pet every one I see at all costs”.
So you have this huge gruff Goliath barbarian who gets all mushy over cute cats and has a need to pet them.

That doesn't really sound like a flaw at all, more like a personality trait. How often have you run into cats in a D&D game? Flaws are meant to show that your character is more than just a boring stereotype and incourage roleplaying. Something like "I keep trying too hard to prove myself, thus alienating those around me".
Also, if you want to create a character that you can just drop into a random group's game you probably want to stay away from "funny" character traits like the cat thing. Not everyone thinks things like that are "comical" and it can ruin the mood. So again, it's probably better to talk to the group you want to play with what character might fit in the party and work from there.

Hi everyone,
As promised in my other thread, here is the character that I made. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this character.
Lugnir (Lugi) Ironfist:

He can also speak, read and write Common, Giant and Orc. Lugi had enough interactions with Mountain Orcs and Stone Giants growing up that he learned their languages and adopted the Giants God as his own.
