I'm new to D&D and want to make a homebrew monster based on the Draugr, a undead monster of Norse myth. Trouble is that a draugr that follows what I've read seems too OP for a D&D boss. Seems like the perfect draugr is a fusion of a lich, a vampire, a flesh golem, a ghost, a zombie and perhaps a mummy. Here is a draugr power list to give you an idea:
Phasing through solid walls/objects
Casting curses
Turning mortals into draugrs by killing them
Changing its density/weight
Spreading disease
Entering dreams
Super-strength
Driving creatures mad (aka mind-****)
Seeing the future
Shape-shifting
Changing Size
Turning into smoke
Weather Control
Drinking blood
Its weaknesses are iron, fire, the strength of a true hero, good god iconography and magic/magic weapons (particularly the fiery kind).
Also, anyone know where I can find the temple for those fan-made monster manual entries I've been seeing online?
There's almost nothing in their list of abilities that isn't already present in other D&D monsters or spells, so just take what you need and try to cut out anything nonessential.
Turning slain humanoids into draugrs? Plenty of undead do that (e.g. Wraiths.)
Phasing through solid objects? Wraiths do that too.
Super strength? Just give it a high strength score.
Most of their other powers are just spells. Give it Innate Spellcasting.
Weak to "the strength of a true hero?" Take a look at the Rakshasa.
You'll also want to give it legendary actions. I'd start with a vampire's stats and swap out what you need from there.
