Hey folks, So I've been running a D&D game for about a year. We had a lot of breaks and one that was for about 3-4 months but we're back in the saddle now. We just had our Last episode of Chapter 1 and they're now heading into Chapter 2 this Tuesday.
So I basically deconstructed LMoP and turned the concept into a full campaign within my own world. So at the start of the campaign was a cleric. The cleric worshipped a 'god' that was not quite a full deity yet. Well, when they went down into the Redbrand's hideout, one of them naturally fell into the crevasse. In doing so, met the Nothic. The nothic had been here so long that this place was essentially a 'Place of Power'. Well, the individual made a deal in order to aid them. then they proceeded through the rest of the cave. Unfortunately they got trapped in a hall having alerted everyone in the hideout. While fighting, one of the party members goes down. At this point, the cleric (the one that fell into the pit) calls out to the nothic. It appears and helps the party finish off the baddies. Unfortunately, the rest of the party had no idea that the Nothic was helping them and one of them shot the nothic. The cleric steps forward and tried to negotiate with the nothic. long story short, the nothic consumed the years (1d12 per attempt) from the cleric. The party shoots the nothic again before the cleric tells them to stop and let it happen. Since the nothic was shot a second time, the cleric offered his life. Upon the cleric's death, he met his 'god'. His god isn't all-powerful and so he gave him a choice. He can resurrect the cleric OR he can use the cleric's binding to reality to give another their life back. With the passing of information and a deal made, one of the party member's snake began to bulge and form into a yuan-ti Paladin, the player's new character. From then on, the entire party began to believe in Raam, the god of Fate.
So fast forward, when the party killed The Spider (oh and one of the characters took the staff and claimed the title of The Spider and left with the shapeshifter to discover his new assets.) and discovered the Spell Forge, They each was granted a wish (could not affect the spell forge in any way ie. destroying it or burying it beneath the earth and etc.). One wished to be rid of a curse (natural disasters followed them) and another wished to empower the rising god, Raam.... This I actually expected.
At this point, I offered the players a chance to end the campaign or go for the long haul since I'd built it out either way. They went for the long haul and so their god appeared to them in physical form, healed another character's permanent blindness (from fighting and nearly dying with the dragon), and told them that activating the forge had simultaneously set off a sort of beacon for the other two. He told them that beings from the other planes are trying to fight through the barriers in order to get to the power that was felt across the planes. He then tasks them with finding the other two Spell Forges lest they fall into the wrong hands.
And so as our party rushes away from the fallen city, it begins to reform and the bones begin to rise and take shape, as it seems the city was resurrected along with the activation of the spell forge. They don't stick around and run out of the mountain. With their new heading towards a land none of them had been to before, they head toward the shore. Not ONLY have they not been to this nation before, but it's also at war with the nation that they are from..... so that'll be fun.
Anyway, On Tuesday we'll be starting off with their ship just leaving the harbor, heading towards Mirian in search of the second Spell Forge. So while I don't consider myself to be the best DM, I do consider myself to be a pretty good storybuilder. I'd welcome anyone to come watch as we continue the adventure on Twitch.
Ok, as a heads up, one of my players has canceled. He is currently going through changes in the workforce so it's a little hectic.... this is why I can't have a schedule for D&D guys lol
To those that don't understand why I don't move on without him, all I can say is that it is a very critical session for all players to attend. I'll post again when I can confirm another date, Thanks!
Alrighty, it looks like we'll all be Streaming the First session of Chapter 2 on Saturday. It should start somewhere between 4-7pm Pacific Time. I'll update a more specific time soon.
