Hopefully this won't get lost in the replies, I just wanted to come back in here to let y'all know I'm reading all the replies and greatly appreciate the help! My Barb is a fantastic meat shield in team stuff, so I'm still pretty happy with the build. But I'm not good at knowing strats or optimizing, so I was looking for ideas and such from the community. It's been a big help, thank you!
Even if he takes reactions away. If your reaction is readied for when he gets in range. NOT when he attacks you then you can still get a reaction off. Get a grapple in. Their speed is zero. If they want to attack their move speed is zero. If they use their action to break free, it’s not easy and they can’t hit you.
Oh, yeah, the problem with my most recent 1v1 is they used Ki to make their open hand style stop my reactions for that turn. So I could never get an Opportunity Attack in. Was very frustrating.
5E isn't designed for PVP, and there are many ways to avoid an OA. This monk doesn't even need to be Open Hand - they could just spend Ki on Bonus Disengage. They're doing you a favor by attacking you so you can keep your rage going. The pro move is to run away and wait for your rage to end.
I don't know what level this is happening at, so some options since you own the pit:
Make the pit smaller.
If this is at level 6 or higher, turn the lights off - so the whole fight happens in pitch darkness - and take the Eagle totem as your L6 power. Be a Goblin, and put lots of cover in the pit. Now you can generally hide as a bonus action and you're not at disadvantage to see your opponents, but most opponents will be at disadvantage to see you. Be aware there are still ways to see you, it's just difficult for most.
If you're attached to being a half-orc, get yourself a steel boot and put some alchemist's fire in it, then put your foot in it, so no light escapes but the boot gets hot and stays hot. Provided you're taking damage every turn but aren't emitting light, you can afford to spend an entire action on Hide without worrying about your Rage ending early.
If this is at L14 or higher, choose Wolf as your L14 power, so you can knock prone without a save.
5E isn't designed for PVP, especially in a fighting pit, where everyone starts off fresh - resource management is supposed to be part of the game, and you're turning it off. This comes up in many ways, one of which is that Barbarians get no benefit from additional rages per day in a fighting pit - you'll only ever rage once, unless you're in a very bizarre pit where contenders fight multiple times per day. What you want to do is focus on powerful abilities that take a long time to recharge - ideally per long rest - so the fighting pit can give you what amounts to infinite uses. Even if you want to be a Barbarian, level 3 or 4 (for the ASI) or 5 (you need Extra Attack from somewhere to properly wreck face in melee) is plenty of Barbarian levels - you should multiclass, and like I said, the low-hanging fruit is classes that are resource-intensive, like Fighter. If you aren't a Tortle, your third stat is likely Dexterity, which means your only multiclass options are Fighter and Rogue anyway (Rogue can provide Bonus Action Hide so you don't need to be a Goblin). I can't say much more without knowing what level this is happening at.
Recapping: As a half-orc barbarian in a fighting pit, you should multiclass into Fighter and/or Rogue.
Fighter subclasses worth looking at include Echo Knight and Battle Master. Echo Knight may be preferable if it's available and you're really serious about needing mobility.
Rogue subclasses worth looking at include Swashbuckler, or at very high levels, Phantom.
If mobility is consistently an issue b/c the DM is being tricky and your party isn't very helpful, skip an ASI to get Magic Initiate. Why? Because Longstrider and Jump spells are both 1st level Ranger spells and neither require Concentration. There you go: +10 feet movement or ability to go after high elevation targets. Pick the one that is more beneficial to your Barb.

Wait a second, the bakery/fight pit is your characters?
why and how is the fight pit large enough for you to get kited around if you own it?
