I'm new to the d&d and I'm getting board of my warlock character. Mainly cause in combat all I do is eldritch blast and maybe use hex on a harder enemy. And out of combat Im supposed to be the face but that doesn't work so well when I'm role-playing as a paranoid CE character who is obsessed with demons, blood, and death. And I can't even do evil things without our LG revenant cleric killing me. I'm thinking of letting my character do something evil and letting her die when I find a good time to do it.
Any ways are party consists of 2 fighters and a death cleric so we need someone who can do some more utility stuff out of combat but still participate in combat. I was thinking of doing rogue or an arcane full caster like sorcerer. I know wizard is probly better but I'd probly get lazy and just prepare the same spells every day anyways.
They both seem really fun to play and I can come up with ways to role play both but I'm not sure which is better for the party.
It's really up to you - if you're bored of a character just choose what you'd enjoy the most.
However, despite saying that if you do want feedback... It sounds like you have three great frontline/tank characters, so perhaps a ranged rogue if you decide on that class. Alternatively I'd like to suggest bard to you as well, which can fill the skill-based role of rogue whilst also bringing a wide variety of spells to the fray.
The bard sounds like it could work well. I originally wrote it off cause I didn't realize it had expertise and it has no sneak attack. Still Probly better than the rouge for my party because I was going to use it as a melee/mid-range with a dagger then a hand crossbow once I get the feat for them at Lv4 and a rapier on my main hand. And we already have a lot of melee
Also, consider the extra diversity metamagic brings with sorcerer. Twinning buffs/debuffs can be pretty useful. Also I like the subtle casting option for situations where obvious casting would be frowned upon or when you cant use your hands or voice.
1 making a character solely to fit the group I have found in my own rpg career is a mistake. I usually find that either I'm limited by the choice or I'm bored and then someone else joins who wants to do that anyway
2 your post suggests to me your party needs a rogue and a sorceror. I think a druid would fit in there quite well. Using wildshape to scout ahead and a good spell list to do damage. Or if you take stealth proficency and can get a high dex ( +3) you can sneak ahead of the group
3 my answer to your question is a sorceror is more useful to your group because a sorceror must have high charisma and therefore is mechanically able to be the face of the group. Also I think your group needs an arcane caster more than an early warning system
RP wise, play what ya want. Optimizing for your party? Sorcerer. why? You have 3 single target heavy hitters, adding the rogue is just a 4th single target hitter.
Want to fill a major gap here? Go sorc AOE bulldozer and guess what sorcs are the best. Grab empower metamagic and pick up fireball asap. (Grab cone of cold incase you come into fire immunity groups.) Grab careful metamagic and pick up hypnotic pattern asap. Rest in defence only. Shield, misty step>dimension door, greater invisibilty and of course counterspell.
Stay out of danger, Fireball Lvl 4 slots with empower and incoming large groups. Once they get in range or close, switch to hypnotic pattern slots Lvl 3 with carefull spell and charm everything except your teamates.
Depending on how much your DM focus you, switch out all your defence spells for sorcerer points to pump out fireballs and hpatterns. Level 1 and 2s especially. Your only burning one sorc point for empowers and careful metas so save enough to run those.
Don't forget just use the empower metamagic if you roll a few 1 or 2's on that fireball, you get to choose if you want to after the roll. Also go dragon sorc since you add your charisma to all fire damage, free fly higher level and resistance to boot. Oh you get dragon breath that you should use 1st since it recharges on every short rest. I recommend brass dragon since the fire damag goes straight down halls but you can do the dragon that does cone damage too.
I wouldn't even bother grabbing any boss spells, your single target heavy hitters should handle them, you take care of mobs.

Bards are very powerful at higher levels and are more of a jack of all trades character that can do everything.
DM Tomb of Annihilation X2
DM Curse of Strahd
Redleaf Moutain Dwarf Circle of land(Moutain) Druid

So I just want to make three points

Why not arcane trickster and do both?
