I think the problem is that Veteran DM's do regularly reply to questions posed in this area of the forum, so there's really no need for a separate thread just for that purpose.
I have a question about character creation? I have an idea for a character but am not sure how to go about it. This character would be a sorcerer descended from warlocks who made pacts for their bloodline, descendants are born with magic (hence sorcerer), but may occasionally interact with their family's Patron (so some warlock aspects). With this in mind, I'm also thinking of including the Artificer (specifically the Alchemist) class with the character being great with potions & brews as well as spellcasting. How could I make this work coherently where it makes sense, without making this character too "spread out"?
I agree with Transmorpher that there's already a forum section for this. We don't need redundancy by having a thread specific to it as well. That being said;

Sorcerer and Warlock pretty naturally go together, since they're both Cha based casters. A multi class for them should be pretty straightforward, so long as you understand the differences between Pact Magic and regular Spellcasting. For your idea I'd recommend starting Sorcerer since the character is born into magic, and multiclassing into Warlock once your character makes contact with the Patron for the first time. It could be a cool roleplay moment that gives credence to the multiclass idea.
As for Alchemist - if you *really* want to include the actual class in there, you'll need Cha and Int to both be at least 13 to multiclass, which won't leave you much room for other important skills like Con or Dex. It could work and could work well, but it definitely won't be optimized.
My personal opinion is not to take any Artificer. Just pick up proficiency with an Herbalism Kit and use that to make potions, talk to your DM about it, etc. Flavoring abilities to be Artificer centric can go along way towards giving yourself the feeling of what you're trying to accomplish.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
as an old line DM I too don't really see the need for this thread as I answer questions in many of the different forms. to follow on VanZoeran's comments there are a couple of other possibilities and considerations. there is the 2014 feat Magic Initiate (warlock) that could well represent the bloodline. you would probably take eldritch blast and hex as 2 of the spells you "naturally" have. then I would actually take the alchemist supplies/skill rather than the herbalist kit as herbalist makes healing potiona (and maybe antitoxin and poisons) while the alchemist makes all the other potions and the poisoner skill (and survival/nature skills) are the poison makers/harvesters. So, it might make more sense to take the skill rather than the class to keep things simpler.
There is also the option of going straight Sorcerer and taking the Eldritch Adept feat. That gets you one no-prerequisite Eldritch Invocation if you want an at will cast of a low level spell (never underestimate the RP ability of an at will Silent Image or the combat readiness of free Mage Armor).
So you have a bunch of murder hobos. Outside the game have you talked to them about that? It is supposed to be fun for all and clearly that is not fun for you so tell them, make it clear that that is unacceptable at your table. If you are hosting reminder them of that and that it is unacceptable at your place so if they want to continue they need to find a new DM and new place to play. This really should have been covered in session 0 when talking about what is and isn’t acceptable play for your enjoyment. If you aren’t the DM (and it’s not your place) I recommend leaving the group and finding a new one that respects your limitations on what is acceptable play.

Why is this such an open question and why is it not in the Dungeon Masters Only forum?

Players are welcome on this thread. I didn't want to put it on the DMs only forum so that players would see it too.
