So, my DM has been a bit of a jerk lately, and keeps denying my character ideas even though the characters themselves have nothing homebrew. I was thinking of making a character that seems normal but was really annoying to deal with. he lets us keep our level when our character dies when we make a new character, so it´ll be level 7.
PS, he has a habit of using random lightning strikes to get rid of characters, so maybe help a brother out and get something that can´t just get smite down by an annoyed dm.
(edited in) The last character he denied was a V human multi-class monk barbarian with the tavern brawler feat, this character doesn´t use weapons and only does unarmed strikes.
You cannot win this fight, at best you'll make the dm quit… at the cost of everyone being exhausted by you two. I second on the finding a different dm suggestion, It’s not worth fighting your dm to play a character, they can do anything they want in game, so beating them at the game is fruitless.
in my opinion just find another group cause he seems annoying and a fun hater.like you just made an awesome character with no homebrew and he just "denied" it?dnd is a game about having fun and making characters your own,not adhering to groundless rules or random character deaths because a dm doesnt like something.
Are other players having the same problem? If so, the group should approach the DM about it. If it’s only you, I have to imagine there’s something else going on and we’re not getting all the details.
But after all that, I’d agree with the others, find a new DM. Passive-aggressive character building will feel fun for a minute, then you’ll just get bolted from the sky again.
Finally, if you really want something annoying, a halfling divination wizard with the lucky feat and the bountiful luck feat can be annoying, though really for the whole table, not just the DM.

Did he give a specific reason for denying the character? Was it for lore/world building reasons, or was it just "I don't like that character".

My suggestion is to find a different DM.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Making a character for the sake of being annoying isn't a good plan. That probably isn't going to be fun to play for very long.
UNLESS you play an Aarakocra that can only speak in squeaks and screams.
Seriously though just quit. Find another game. You can find some right in these forums =)

Artificer + Chronomancer. There you go.
Once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
