Fill up a barrel with water, use minor illusion or some other illusion spells to make it look like fine wine, poison, holy water, or antitoxin, then do the math on how much gp you can earn. A barrel of poison can get you 512,000 gp
I got me an alchemy jug and some empty vial. If I haven't used it for any other use during the day, I make two vials of acid at night. I stockpile them and sell them off when we get to the mid-sized city.
If your DM is a sugar daddy (or it fits the narrative, which tbh is the most likely case) then he might give you, say, a month-long trip to your next "adventure." Easy 750 gold right there.
Of course, why would you make acid when you can make mayonnaise 😋?

Yes, because someone is going to give you 512000 gold coins without bothering to check to see if there's any illusion magic on what they're buying. Heck, with minor illusion all they have to do is move the barrel slightly and the illusion is exposed.
But if you cast the spell on the barrel or maybe the liquid itself, the illusion won't move. Also in regard to the first problem, nobody said you had to sell it all immediately. Schedule when and where they buy so you have time to cast your spells. Once you sell it though, you'll need to either move town/city due to it being a trick, or have a PC with high charisma tell them it was a bad batch.

That's the problem - the illusion won't move. Physical objects can pass through the illusion, so if somebody moves the barrel, the barrel will move through the illusion.
Unless you have a good relationship with your buyer that you're willing to sacrifice for a small amount of gold and a huge amount of damage to your reputation, then it's unlikely that they'll buy your product and give you a significant amount of money without checking the merchandise that they're buying.
If you have an adversarial relationship with your DM, it's not wise to provoke his NPCs. If your DM is willing to let you screw over his NPCs without them ever getting their revenge on you, you might as well just ask him to let your party get more access to gold and magical items in ways that doesn't involve your party being bad guys that are defrauding innocent good guys. Unless your party is comfortable being the bad guys, being the villains. In which case the DM has to adjust the campaign accordingly for your party being the villains and not the heroes.
If you are going to try and con someone into buying something at least make it physical.
Invest in some marvelous pigments paind a huge diamond / barrel of poison or whatever and sell it. They can pick it up and take it home as long as they don't closely inspect it you are OK (at least in the short term)
2 suggestions, both depend on the region's laws. First of, pyramid schemes are a good option, but collapse quickly. Or a goat is 1gp. Next time your party gets 200+ gold, just go out and buy a bunch of goats. You can sell milk and cheese and other goat products and buy more of the goats with the profits until you own all the goats. Then you control all the products and can charge quite a bit for them. You have just made a literal money farm

I exist, and I guess so does this
A whole campaign was ended in this manner as the poor DM just quit after being forced to learn economics because of the party's antics

Lol. Poor DM.

I have done this in my game. Goat pieces, yes. Change the local currency to be shaped like goats.
