DISCLAIMER: Before I begin, I am not looking to optimize anything but flavour for this build, but it might happen anyway....cause I can't help it sometimes. There will be a second really optimized build coming up.
The Outlaw
My vote goes to GoodBovine's the Outlaw. All in all looks like a very fun build to play.

And the winner is: GoodBovine's 'The Dark Angel', congratulations!
I'm happy to announce that we are now also offering a prize to the winners of Throwdowns, the winner can now have their build drawn! If GoodBovine and Yurei are interested in art of your builds (sorry Yurei but you'll have to choose one of your two wins!), then please PM me with details of how they look, example art below:
Thanks for participating everyone, keep your eyes posted for the next Throwdown shortly!
No issue, DF. Atlas uses a standard-issue warforged chassis, Aine can have her portrait instead. Well done, GoodBovine. Heh, I shall have to remember next time that damage is what people care about :P

Yeah, I agree. I was surprised that utility and versatility wasn't valued higher in a build that was supposed to be able to do everything.
I think it's an interesting look at what people consider necessary for solo adventures, and the fundamental assumptions players make.
My assumption was that combat was an absolute last resort - the ability to weasel out of a fight in as many ways as possible was critical. A solo character cannot win fights reliably and so must avoid them or talk their way out of them. The voters in general seemed to lean on the idea of combat being unavoidable though, and that a character needed explosive nova potential to end fights before they could turn fatal. Characters with greater utility but low nova potential were disregarded as being unable to handle heavy combat, which is fair.
Heh, it's certainly an eye-opener, and useful data for designing adventures with low player counts.
I think that a solo character should have a decent spread of ability scores, not spiking one score really high. They should have a large array of skills, and preferably expertise in at least some of them. Some kind of self healing is nice, but not essential. Combat shouldn't be the focus, because if you face threats that a normal party would, you will burn through resources and die fast. So you have to avoid or disengage from most combat situations that you are not sure you can win in. A build like Dark Angel can completely delete an opponent before they can think of responding, but I'd be worried about burning through spell slots for smites.

Honestly, I am kinda shocked. I assumed if anything that the outlaw is better as a solo build. I just really wanted to build a gish lol. I had a run in with someone else on the gish thread, and didn't want to cause any strife lol. I actually think BobbyBaker's is much better due to the bard levels......
Can't wait for the next throwdown!

After looking through all the builds, my vote goes to GoodBovine's Dark Angel, but they were all really good. I liked JoelTheWalrus's next.
Glad to see you found this thread so intriguing that you decided to finally make your first post. :)
Thanks! I am a long time lurker, but i have never posted here before
Thanks!

I'm surprised that Dark Angel won as well. I personally thought Outlaw was more well-rounded and the superior of the two builds.
