At the start of my latest campaign, another player and I spotted the UA for dragon races. He created a gem dragonborn and I a Kobold. We spotted the profiles since being archived, but when Fizban's came out, he was able to roll right into the new official Gem Dragonborn, but the new Kobold just disappeared. I assume they dropped it from play testing, but I can not find anything speaking as to why or what led to that. I have googled and searched the forums with no luck, can anyone point me to a page talking to this?
If it was completely cut, that is a shame as I thought the changes were really good and have been having a great time with them. Also, just to test the feature, I see their is a poll option, so I added for kicks and giggles.
Here's hoping they show up in Monsters of the Multiverse, along with the Fey races that were dropped.
My main campaign is running a Kobold Artificer styled off shock cavalry (Steel Defender mount with Pipes of Haunting means you can charge crowds to break formations) and even if I'm not doing as much damage as, say, the Barbarian or casters, being able to spend my bonus action to give allies advantage feels really flavorful. If anything I'd almost make it a bigger AoE but make it an action, so it feels more like you're providing impact by supporting your teammates more than just "I'm giving myself advantage on this attack, and you guys can have some too I guess."
Either way, so much better than the Volo's Guide Kobold. Even if it's mechanically similar, I don't want my character to "grovel and beg." I want to feel like a character who's inclined toward working with a team to take down much larger threats, and that's what the UA Kobold provides.

I expect that you will see an updated Kobold in the Monsters of the Multiverse and I think that is why it wasn't in in FToD
She/Her Player and Dungeon Master
