As a tangent, I once had a character I made who I just called "Fighterman" who was basically a Battle Master who had a ton of superiority die and maneuvers. I was sad to find out that my build didnt work RAW, since you arent allowed to take Martial Adept more than once, but these new knight feats give me hope for making a "legal" version of Fighterman

Ngl, these Feats make me excited about playing around with different "Fighter" builds and it would be nice to have Feats that can compete with PAM, GWM and SS.
Edit: I also really want Initiate of High Sorcery and Adept of the Black Robes for a Warlock character that I have been thinking about.

You can now even beef up a champion fighter with the Solamnic feats.

My hope for D&D 5.5 is that background feats become a core staple of the system. I LOVE the 5E ruleset, but one thing I think they missed the mark on is feats.
There are SOOO many fun and unique builds out there that go unplayed because they require a specific pair of feats to function, and you just can't afford to wait 8 levels making them work. It's obvious that Variant Human and the Custom Lineage racial choices are superior to most others for this specific reason.
I DO like that feats are more rare in this edition, and that you have to forego an ability score increase in order to get one. It requires a tradeoff and makes the choice meaningful.
But, locking them behind the first four levels of play for most races feels stifling, to be honest.
I really like how they're proposing more feats. I didn't notice it till my third read through, but in addition to feats tied to background the Krynn UA, the UA proposes a narrow list of 1st level "bonus feats" if your PC takes a background that doesn't come with a background feat; and grants a feat at fourth character level in addition to the ASI feat choice offered by class progressions. I think it's cool. I also like the idea of feats getting tailored by world, and also the idea of "feat paths" that the robes and knightly orders make a move toward.

My Hexblade 2/Shadow Sorcerer X needs 14 levels till he gets the last half feat he requires (elven accuracy, shadow touched, and fey touched). it would be even worse if he does not get a free racial feat at level 1 then High Drow Magic needs to be added at level 18. This primary to extend and free his known spells for other spells because Misty Step and invisibility are a must for this build.

I don't understand this. Are you saying you got a free racial feat when playing a Drow or that you can take High Drow Magic as a Variant Human/Custom Lineage?

We have a house rule which allows every player to grab one free racial feat at level 1. Variant Humans will get one free feat and one free racial feat. My character is a half-drow picking High Drow Magic at level 1 as the free racial feat.

Yeah, I fear we will see an increasing number of: Please nerf Battle Master posts, soon.
You're right. 20 dices and all of these can become d12 on a high level battle master. 8 recharges at short rest. 12 at long rest.

for sure will need an indepth read, but at face value, seems fun!
