I think I am going to ask for a refund on my D&DOne books. They took away even more potions from the Alchemist subclass in this second UA by removing a magic plan.
So already One Alchemist is looking like the weakest Alchemist with the least amount of potions out of every edition. Oh, and they locked it to Eberron also? Where is my AD&D love? You know Alchemist have been in the game longer than Monks and Warlocks.
I so upset. Alchemist was my favorite class despite being the worst subclass in 5e. Instead of a balance it got nerfed so hard. So extremely hard that it no longer plays like an Alchemist. Like why even waste time with potions? Remembering to make useless elixirs is more effort than their worth.
After almost 30 years of D&D I think I may be growing out of this. 4e was bad but I could hang. What they're doing to Alchemist however is deeply depressing.
however you get more free potions per day, you start of with 2 and finish with 5 as opposed to 1 and 3
they also only require a bonus action to consume.
they also use your artificer level +int modifier for temp hit points which is better than 2d6+int
and they get tashas cauldron spell.
overall i would say its improved.
All the potions we get are craftable by others and overall there are less potions than prior editions.
Bring back the AD&D Alchemist ability to make any of their spells into Potions. It will increase potion diversity and let me actually play an Alchemist. It also gives them a hard niche in environments where magic doesn't work as intended like far away from the Plane of it's source in the case of Elemental magic or in the Underdark where Wild Magic can corrupt spells or in anti-magic spheres.
The class is just not up to snuff. It wasn't in 5e and I am upset. I want a potion for every possible situation instead of a spell!
In my 5e Campaign we started "Big Pharma" and I took a year of downtime training NPCs as certified Alchemist. Then I gave them money to buy a shop as a franchise of the company. [EDIT: I also certified them to train other Alchemist and supply them with funding to start a franchise.] was hoping in my One Campaign I could come back around and help them increase what they offer. Now, well, I suppose they're all about as good as I could ever hope to be. It isn't like I have potions they cannot already make.
... this is because my wife T'zarah Vahadarr took over the board of Big Pharma and turned it into a Maztican drug cartel isn't it? Is she why we're getting not new potions and loosing Alter Self?

Maybe something like the Spell-storing Item? After a long rest, choose an artificer spell (does not need to be prepared) with a casting time of 1 action that affects one creature and make it into a potion. As a Bonus Action use the potion to affect the drinking creature with the spell? Perhaps restrict it to level and as the subclass progresses add one or two additional potions options. Potions last until the end of the next long rest.

I prefer not to involve myself in domestic disputes of others. :)

Yeah, that is exactly it with the whole spell storing idea. As far as this domestic dispute you're wise to not be involved but if you do ever come across a couple of half-drow children from the house of Vahadarr I'd appreciate the information. T'zarah sold them into slavery because they were only 'half-drow' so now I am trying to find my children.

id say its more powerful
they removed the alter self potion,

That's the trend in all of the Artificer UA. Artificers make/summon magic items that otherwise can be crafted.

I think that would be a good feature.

How to add Tooltips.
I made an artificer (including alchemist) that fits your requirements: https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/2199578-2024-artisan-artificer
