My home network cut out while I was in the middle of the survey that I was definitely NOT finished completing, and all attempts to retake it have been met with "You have already completed this survey". Any suggestions who to contact about retaking it, or should I just take the L and not bother?
Btw: no one has mentioned the Archivist. Whats the general opinion on that subclass?
Personally, i love what the AI brings to the table!
It has been brought up, it just isn't that popular. Also, that subclass is better suited for the Wizard than the Artificer.
Maybe it's just that I like the idea of a virtual npc i can give the DM who can either talk to only me or to the party while also being able to act independently.
A butler, a psychiatrist, a relationship counselor... ha! Imagine turning one personality off in order to turn on the counselor and ask why someone is mad at them?
Beyond roleplay, it's familiars on steroids being able to send them to scout, deal psychic damage from afar, mind link with others, teleport behind walls or closed doors, etc... It's all very cybernetic! Specially if you fluff it as nanotech.
I don't think there's anything about the current specification that suggests the artificial mind is actually capable of speech or communication beyond one fuzzy line in Telepathic Advisor - "artificial mind telepathically supplies you with advice and information about certain topics" - certainly there is no mention of known languages or that it can potentially communicate verbally outside of the Archivist's head.
The skill proficiencies conferred are clearly available in real-time - e.g. Perception isn't heightened because it 'sees' a threat while sitting in your back pocket, nor do you stop for an insightful conversation while using Animal Handling to stop yourself being thrown from your panicking steed - so if anything I think the data storage nature of artificial minds is closer to The Matrix 'skill uploading' concept.
Nothing to stop a player & DM deciding otherwise of course, but I think it should cut both ways if the mind is interpreted as an AI/spirit guide i.e. someone asks a question about History and the player character just stares silently into space for 3 minutes while they and the DM are having an 'internal' conversation - and I certainly wouldn't think it a fair interpretation if someone asserted their spirit guide could go around talking/miming to others on their behalf.
To be honest, in the current implementation of artificial mind as an indestructible proxy for the player character I'd much prefer it be balanced around being more like a familiar creature that the character inhabits.
Whelp, I finished the survey, and I maxed out the word limit on a couple of the comments I made, lol. I guess for now it's wait and see what comes out next.
I also saw only recently that there was a hidden announcement that an Ebberon book was also in the plan for this year. It apparently was after a concert after the rest of the announcements, not sure why?
But I expect that does mean a proper deadline for the Artificer, although I don’t expect to see a full iteration on UA any more, maybe only retweaked Artillerist or something regarding the analysis of the feedback. Could be wrong of course.

I would allow the mind to interact with others by 6th level since it gains the Magical Telephony Feature to connect with others.
As for the proficiencies, it clearly states supplies you so either interpretation is fine depending on the circumstance.
For example animal handling can be an overlay in the player's vision showing him what the animal is feeling, it's health and condition, where to touch the animal to calm it down or communicate with it, etc...
On the other hand, perception can easily be just that when the player actively looks around his mind helps him detect minute details and circles them in the player's vision.
Mechanically, these effects would be the proficiency bonus.
I also saw only recently that there was a hidden announcement that an Ebberon book was also in the plan for this year. It apparently was after a concert after the rest of the announcements, not sure why?

An interesting listen, and further confirmation that Arcane Armament will "very likely" move to the Battle Smith whilst other sub-classes gain something else to compensate.
So I just watched the Dragon+ with Jeremy Crawford, and he seemed to heavily hint that the ability to use Mending for healing on Turrets and Iron Defender was going away precisely because of the long casting time.
My bet is that there will be a new Artificer-Only cantrip that can heal constructs and objects, scales with cantrip progressions and takes an action.
Repair
Cantrip - Transmutation 1 Action; Touch - V, S, M* A construct or object you touch regains a number of hit points equal to 2d6 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Damage healed in this way does not repair breaks or tears within the target.
This spell's healing increased by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (3d6), 11th level (4d6), and 17th level (5d6). * - (Artisan Tool's)
Personally I don’t like where they are taking Artillerist and I don’t see how they could have read that from the feedback, I think Crawford is doing a bit too much projecting. They really should bring in one more subclass to focus on magic and not make it the same subclass that focuses on turrets. Besides that all sounds good.

Thanks, Arutha - a very interesting listen. Excited to see the next iteration, as I am very keen to see...
Alchemist as a healer (which is a challenge for a part caster + they seems far behind paladin at the moment) and without an homunculus - I actually don't mind the homunculus, but excited if the salves get worked into a class ability.
Artillerist with a caster focus & possibly carry-able turrets - the subclass isn't currently on my radar, but getting a G1 Megatron vibe. ^_^
I like that Jeremy stressed Battle Smith works just as well at range, too. I'm curious/concerned that archivist could be summed up as magical versatility, as I view the current build as 100% dedicated to Information Overload - including gobbling up spell slots for its Divine Smite style effect.
Also; you can only use each infusion once at a time?! I assumed you could just stick Enhanced Weapon on as many different weapons as level allows!

That sounds more like a homebrew idea you could have been working on or something like that. The rules for infusing items has always been that way:
"You can infuse more than one nonmagical object at the end of a long rest; the maximum number of objects appears in the Infused Items column of the Artificer table. You must touch each of the objects, and each of your infusions can be in only one object at a time. If you try to exceed your maximum number of infusions, the oldest infusion immediately ends, and then the new infusion applies."

I agree. I'm a little worried by them potentially removing the Homunculus... but if they receive something similar to the Alchemist's Satchel like the last version then colour me intrigued (they should keep the Homunculus as an infusion though because the flavour of that thing is great).
The Artillerist should focus on crafting ranged weapons/upgrading crossbows and, like he was stating in the talk, just let us use on of our turrets as a weapon if they are so hesitant about guns in this game. That way we can free up the conceptual space to allow for a true Wand/Rod/Staff crafter that focuses on pure arcane power.
@Vorsa the multiple infusions issue was one of the first things they pointed out to me in this thread, I think it is a common misread as it is such a small unhighlighted sentence.
@Davavor Personally I am not against being able to pick up turrets but calling it guns is meh. I understand having a class for Which guns were a core identity was a bad idea but that doesn’t mean other tables won’t allows the already written gun optional rules.
Well personally, Im very happy with everything they mentioned towards the Artificer in this new Dragon+. Pretty much everything I was hoping for; everything except for a confirmation (as far as Crawford-style confirmations go) the Alchemist Satchel will return to take the Homunculus' place, but STILL getting to keep the Homunculus as an infusion (my Homunc is in the form of a little Pug doggo who's tail spins to hover with it's little butt pointing upwards and has become the whole party's best friend and mascot, so I can't lose it haha). Thank you @Arutha for posting it. :)

I was hoping they'd switch out the Iron Defender for a suit of arcano-magical armor for the Battle Smith.
As it is, giving the battle smith all those smites is a waste in my opinion. Odds are you won't waste bonus actions on them. You'd probably use them on your Iron Defender. I'd much rather have seen the Battle Smith get the Shield spell.
Huh. So I was reading thru the archivist and I noticed that the information overload feature doesn't have a cap on the amount of extra damage it can deal. I'm having difficulty believing this was left in intentionally because then that would mean RAW an archivist 3/fullcaster 15 could spend a 9th-level spell slot to deal an extra 10d8 psychic damage with information overload @_@

Perhaps you could try from a different computer if it's available?

Don't have a different "computer" readily available, but you did inspire me to try accessing the survey in incognito mode and it worked. Thank you.
Glad to be of service. ^.^

any mention of when the UA is going to get updated in tools
