The new playtest from late last year introduced updates to the fighter and to battle master techniques. It also introduced Mastery- which I was not anticipating when I joined a campaign using the playtest material. My 'Flail' I had planned on selecting doesn't have a Mastery (if unenlightenned, they gave all weapons half-cantrips) that is useful for my crusher-pushing attack (critters read: orym and ashton in one) build I brought.
In a vc i stated that quarterstaff polearm mastery is a crusher buid with more triggers, thougb dual wielding light hammers is similar. But quarterstaves AND mauls have topple whoch merely knocks someone prone when Warhammers iirc have Move...
What do y'all think is the best Playtest Crusher Pushing attack weapon taking Mastery into account? build is lv 3 has 20 str, and fighter gets fast feats so explore builds up to 8 if it entertains ye.
PSA: dms using playtest, mobs of angry villagers with clubs can now slow adventurers to zero and b### them ## #####

Umm, no. Masteries are class features, not weapon features. That is, the ability to use a weapon’s mastery property is a class feature. Angry villagers don’t have class levels, typically, and so won’t have access to weapon masteries.
And how is sap not useful? In any build? Giving an enemy disadvantage helps no matter where you move them to or who they attack next.
