is the a forum for character feedback or are the class forums the right place for it? I'm contemplating an echo knight6/barb2/cleric5 character.
vHuman, with sentinel, then Alert at 4, then 2xstr at 6 and cleric4.
Arcana domain for booming blade and chill touch, then spiritual weapon and Spirit guardians. Other spells include inflict wounds for touch through the echo, guiding bold, reviv, etc.
Long story short, seems utilitarian with good initiative to control the battlefield, with the echo, spiritual weapon and spirit guardians up for long fights, and either booming blade for more control or two attacks with the greatsword, bouncing between echo and myself.
Main questions are twofold. One, is the BA economy (echo, teleport, spiritual weapon, etc.) going to be too much, and two, is Booming blade overkill/conflict with Sentinel?
It feels like it will be fun to play with advantage from reckless attack, control with sentinel/echo/booming blade, but still pretty good damage in multiple opponent fights with spirit guardians and spiritual weapon.
Also a question I have is if you swap places with your echo, do your spirit guardians go with you and hit any creatures within your new radius? I'm assuming yes but curious what others think.
TIA for any feedback on either the character or where to go to get some.
This is the right place to put it. I would say bonus action economy is going to be HARD. It seems like a fun build, and at least you'll have stuff to do when one thing runs out. I can't help you know what would/wouldn't be fun, but it seems good. You just need high strength, con and wisdom.

yeah at lvl 13 it's STR20, CON16 and WIS13. Begrudgingly ok with WIS13 because at its heart it's a melee build and most spells its casting aren't looking for saves (heals for spellbreaker, guardians, Spiritual Weapon, etc.).
if I took it higher I'd put ASI into CON to get more echo knight ability slots
Thx for feedback, looking forward to playing it we just have to finish this Strahd campaign first.
Just be aware that you are unable to hold concentration while raging. You should be able to move the Spiritual Weapon around though, since it doesn't require concentration (as long as you cast it before raging of course).
yeah the 2 lvls of barb are for reckless attack, doubt I'd ever use rage, for the reason you state among others. I'm quite curious to see how reckless attack functions. Really seems like it will depend on the DM, if they think you're overdoing it they can just have more creatures attack you...
Reckless is best to use while raging, so you are getting resistance to the damage. It's also useful to use against enemies that are going to be hitting you regardless (either by attacking your saving throws with spells, or if their to hit score is just very high).

with the Echo they often aren't going to be hitting me, especially when they have to move away from the echo to do so and will take a sentinel OA. Spell saves are as much of a concern as they would be a normal fighter, but the high Con and passable Wis scores help there too.
Alert feat is an underrated fantastic add to Echo Knight, you're giving yourself a 20% increase in likelihood that you're able to set up the battlespace as you see fit with your echo, which adds to their challenge in getting to you for a hit.
I don't think 2 levels is worth it in barbarian if you aren't even going to be raging. Your first level is quite literally a dead level that gives you nothing but +1-2 HP.
A +1 mod also makes a lot of the spells you mentioned kind of weak. Chill Touch, Spiritual Weapon, Inflict Wounds, Guiding Bolt - all of them need to hit or they do nothing, and a +1 mod feels a bit low. I think you are spreading yourself too thin.
quick update to this, after more reflection I've settled on Echo Knight 6/divine soul 4 at lvl 10. Variant Human for sentinel, alert feat at lvl 4, etc.
Lots of utility here, 2 attacks from EK or Echo, additional unleash incarnation attacks, plus twinning booming blade if multiple monsters on you, sentinel for OAs. Cure wounds for help with healing, shield for defense, misty step for additional mobility. Lots and lots of options to control battlefield, can't wait to play it. haven't decided wither remaining levels would go to Counterspell or all the way to death ward, rest would be more fighter levels for ASI, etc.
bonus action economy is a bit of a bear so I'm not totally sold on misty step, plan to see how often I think it would have been useful before I have to pick.
