So I'm playing in a Ravenloft Adventurers League game tonight ( The Seer being the adventure) and I wanted to create a character with the new reborn lineage, a melee-focused character, like a revenant or zombie that has clawed out of his grave, clad in tattered, mud-stained armour, but I'm at a bit of a loss about what class or backstory to go with. I'm not that familiar with the Ravenloft setting in all honesty, so it's a bit difficult.
I remember there was the spirit of a silver dragon in Barovia, could it be used as an undead warlock patron perhaps? I'm not sure how that would manifest in his Form of Dread if I did choose to play an undead warlock.
Otherwise, I don't know. Maybe a vengeance paladin or a zealot barbarian? The latter might hammer home the undead theme with necrotic damage and ease of resurrection, but of course, but the lack of armour won't be that fitting... Maybe I could even change things up and make him werewolf-like path of the beast barbarian?
I don't know... what do you guys think would be a cool class and backstory for a Reborn character in Ravenloft?
I have this one on a list of characters to play and your welcome to steal and or modify it
Wildmagic Barbarian (possible dip into artificer for the infusions)
long ago there was a conflict between the high elves and the orcs. however they decided to have a gathering, between two of their champions, not to fight, but to hash out an agreement so they could come together to cut down a powerful lich that was tormenting both lands, they brought in a halfling mediator to ensure a smooth agreement. The elf had was born into a line of people that wielded the revered revenant double-bladed scimitar and was considered one of the most skilled practitioners of the art, having cut down many beasts, bandits, and yes, even orcs, throughout her years as a warrior. the orc however was known less for his technique and more for his brutish strength bringing down his hefty two-handed blade and cleaving most foes in two. he was quick to rage, and tended to forgo armor, and was known as one of the most fearsome warriors in his kingdom. the halfling was a diplomat, known far and wide for his ability to bring people together without the use of magic, as though intelligent he was but a normal man, outside of his ability to mediate disputes, which came to him at an early age. Summit however was spawned as the result of a wild magic explosion his personality is a patchwork of these three great people making him unstable. summit inherited their hatred of the undead down to the depths of his soul and is disgusted by what he has become. with only vague fragments of the lives of his....progenitors, he has spent the last 95 years trying to get back to normal. Neutral female Laborer Human Friendly alive and well? (found me in the rubble of the explosion) fell in love with the woman that found me in the rubble, it was not reciprocated but we stayed close friends. Druid elf, after being rescued I wandered the land and came across an elven druid with my friend at my side, the two eventually settled down together however, when venturing my way into the orc lands I came across a young orc that recognized his tattoo as being his mother's and swore a blood oath to rip apart the abomination that stood in front of him to avenge his mother's death. Once when visiting my druid friend I stepped into an ongoing argument, between his elven friend and an elven woman, the woman got a bit too aggressive so he through her back a few feet and she left angry, my elven friend then confessed he was supposed to marry the elven woman but fell in love with my human friend when I introduced them. I was set to find and apologize to the woman when after months of searching I think I found her but was gravely wounded by an animated tree. I did fully recover, but it was one hell of an injury. the way I was able to recover in fact was a cleric, lost in the woods, that happen to pass by me and pray to his god, bringing a healing light down onto me, in return, I helped him find his way through the wood. after a few years traveling with the cleric sharing the story of his god's intervention i returned to visit my druid friend and learned that he would soon have a child, that was about 38 years ago I believe and it was with a woman I had never met, she seemed afraid of me...but agreed to have me as the child's godfather I've gone on other adventures, mostly killing undead in the area I was found. been a long long 95 years, one adventure, in particular, had a large creature summon a group of specters and leave, but not before taking my lantern...I loved that lantern, it was one of the 3 things I had from before I became this monstrosity. A lantern with a black candle that never runs out and that burns with green flame ( the trinket that I no longer have )
TLDR/: multiple different types of people, smashed together by wild magic, identity issues, goes by summit, refers to self as we and us.
I love your idea of the Barbarian, it make sense with the Barbarians from Yesterhill. Maybe you were one of the slain there, returning in response to the corruption of your resting place. You may even have an affinity towards Kevans Blood Spear, as he gifts it to you to seek retribution for the fallen Druids and Barbarians.
Personally in my campaign, one of our PC's is actually going to be a dead adventurer, killed by Strahd. But his body has been taken over by a spirit or revenant from Argynvostholt. . This revenant doesn't initially remember anything, about being dead or this not being his body. This will be a slow, teased reveal. Due to there being two lots of memories in one body, there is a lot of RP factor with which memories belong to the spirit and which belong to the host body. The player has chosen to be a Dragonborn Fighter (quite coincidentally), which fits perfectly as Argynvost was a dragon, and the revenant was/is a memeber of the Order of the Silver Dragon.

That's a very awesome backstory and plan, I like it! I bet it's going to be a very awesome reveal for the player.
I've never heard of Yesterhill or Kevans Blood Spear, but it sounds interesting. I'll have to look them up! :)
