Our group wants to have a shared group notes - to players can type of the "story" of the adventure, keep notes of people we have encountered and who they are, and a list of group treasure - that is on the wagon and not been split up between party members. Players are suggesting we go to a shared google doc or sheet but I figure there HAS to be some way to do this in D&DBeyond - inside of the campaign.
It just needs to be a notes page that potentially has different TABs on it - like Game Story, Shared Treasure, etc - whatever the party wants to add in.
Nope no way of doing this in DnD. I use a google drive for our DnD game, I have my DM folder locked down and then a player folder where they can read the journal, make notes, save handouts etc.
The Google Drive is a fantastic option. My table is online since we have one player in Australia. We use Discord for the game, but if anyone wants to take notes, there is a text channel titled “Party Journal”. I also have my own channel for any notes I need to take, which only I can see.
Over the past 18 months it has become my campaign repo. I have random encounters saved in it I have thought up randomly, spreadsheets of npc details (tab per area and then a master tab with names and brief description if i can’t remember where they met that random inn keeper I made up). My own DM journal links to these documents so I can quickly navigate back around.
I store all my maps here as well, I use above VTT so have a maps directory where I can link maps from.
I have tried looking at world anvil but never had the time to really get my head around it. It seems like a really good tool though.
For me it would be a better thing then the upcoming VTT, Being able to have a system on DnD beyond where I could, for instance, pull in a region map, put drop points over it, link the encounters in the encounter builder to it. Add in the treasure and magic items I own here to where they are available. Create shopping lists for magic item stores, or even just mundane stores. Using all the info here in DnD beyond. When my party go to a city I can pull up the map and then click on places to see tavern prices etc.
That would be so so powerful as a DM and, I know only DM's would use it so would happily pay a premium to add it into my account as an add on
I have purchased and am setting up Foundry VTT for this purpose. It is far from turn-key and there is a lot to learn, but it provides a ton of flexibility. I've used MrPrimate's D&D Beyond importer module and Adventure Muncher to help set up my adventures I have purchased on D&D Beyond into Foundry VTT.
The new V10 of Foundry is a big upgrade on the journal system and allows you to do what you are looking for I believe. (I'm new and just learning it so I don't have much experience running games on it yet.)

A friend has Foundry but I largely do TOTM combat, and he found he would get drawn into mapping out everything so when he was DMing Cyberpunk on it we would litterly be walking around maps just to go talk to someone. I am planning on doing some wordl anvil tutorials as it allows you to put notes on a map both DM and Player and make it a living static map.

How do I set that up?

Our players are suggesting using something called Notion (dnd-5e-notion.site) so I was trying to keep everything consolidated in D&DBeyond.
Its too bad that there isnt any option for this here as its a primary feature required by players/DMs
The thing is, they have limited development time available, and there are really good third-party options available.
Also, the most important feature (concurrent editing) is hard to get right, and can lose data easily if it has bugs.
It's just a bad place for them to put their resources.
